Node A RF Enhancer

Andrew Solutions digital Node A RF Enhancer supports up to four separate frequency bands, and up to 24 interleaved sub-bands or up to 32 narrow band channels, in one unitwhether 2G, 2.5G, 3G, or 4G cellular, iDEN, TETRA, the recently auctioned 700 MHz or other frequency bands. Wireless operators can use the Node A to bring all of their outdoor frequency bands into small- and mid-size buildings, providing coverage for customers where they increasingly want to use handheld devices. The Node A is a cost-effective alternative to installing base stations and fiber-based distributed antenna systems (DAS), which typically are used for coverage inside large venues such as stadiums and airports. The Node A performs the same function but at lower costs. The Andrew Solutions Node A is a digital multi-band repeater. With its multi sub-band frequency selection in combination with a passive distribution system it enables high quality voice and high speed data service in larger buildings where it was previously not available.

Besides the wireless operator market another important application of the Node A is with building owners needing to support multiple forms of wireless communications including mission-critical systems. In the wake of national emergencies like Hurricane Katrina, US firefighters, police, and other first responders increased their demands for reliable ubiquitous radio coverage to ensure the publics safety, as well as their own. Many municipalities and counties across the US are adopting in-building coverage ordinances in response to these demands, requiring building owners and commercial developers to install wireless coverage equipment inside their buildings. The Andrew Solutions Node A enables high rise developers, for example, to supply the two bands needed by local emergency personnel and market to tenants the remaining two bands for in-building cellular or broadband signals, helping recoup the cost.

Another application for Node A is in the healthcare industry, which is experiencing a boom in wireless deployments within hospitals and across medical campuses. Wireless portable devices improve work flow, productivity, and process automation with electronic patient records, remote patient monitoring, staff location tracking, and other innovations. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) smart phones reduce voice costs and increase staff mobility. Healthcare facilities are some of the most RF intensive environments with more and more devices going wireless. Andrew Solutions Node A can help manage the wireless spectrum available to this multitude of devices.
