Micro Cables Will Make Their Debut in Cologne

At the ANGA Cable Show, CommScope will introduce a new family of fiber-optic micro cables that are compact, lightweight, and contain a high-fiber density for Outside Plant applications in an HFC network.

One of Europe’s premier international cable events is the ANGA Cable Show. With more than 420 exhibitors from 34 countries representing the cable, broadband and satellite industries, it is truly the place to be. Once again, CommScope will be on hand as an exhibitor. Not only will we be showcasing our new corporate branding and messaging, but we will continue to demonstrate why our cables and complete solution offerings have been successfully deployed in hybrid fiber coax networks worldwide.

During ANGA, CommScope will be introducing an innovative and cost-effective family of fiber-optic micro cables to the broadband market for OSP applications. These micro cables are designed for air-blown installations using microducts. This technology provides the end-user a cost effective and an easy way to upgrade a network on demand by deploying fiber as needed. Microducts are common in congested areas, such as metro applications, where access and duct space is very limited. CommScope’s micro cables are designed to be compact and lightweight and contain a high-fiber density, maximizing the fiber count available in a small cable diameter.

CommScope’s air-blown micro cable product portfolio includes both stranded loose tube and central tube designs. The stranded loose tube design is available in fiber counts up to 144 with outer diameters varying between 5.6 and 8.2 mm. Stranded loose tube cables provide for easy, mid-span access. The central tube design is available in fiber counts up to 24 with outer diameters ranging between 3.5 and 4.2 mm. This compact, lightweight cable design will appeal to installers for access applications because of its easy handling. Both cable constructions are qualified under the general guidelines of IEC 60794.

We hope you stop by the CommScope booth (Level 10.1/Booth U18) at the ANGA Cable Show so that our team can show you our new micro cables and our other industry-leading broadband solutions.
