Andrew Corporation, a global leader in communications systems and
products, is adding low-passive intermodulation (PIM) capabilities to
many of its satellite antenna products.
Low-PIM capabilities are important in specialized X-band applications.
Generation of interfering signals caused by passive intermodulation is
disruptive to successful network communications. Low–PIM
equipment helps create higher quality communications, with less
interference and data loss.
“We are pleased to offer a solid market
alternative in the Low-PIM product space that will benefit our customers,”
said Jude Panetta, group president, Satellite Communications, Andrew
Corporation. “We plan on adding several models
to our Low-PIM portfolio in coming months.”
Currently, Andrew offers its 3.9 Meter Tri-Fold antenna and 2.4 Meter
Nomadic antenna in Low-PIM configurations. The new 4.6 Meter Tri-Fold
antenna will be available with Low-PIM as well. Several other earth
station antennas, such as the 4.9m and 8.1m are also available in
Low-PIM configurations. The company plans to add a Low-PIM version of
its 2.4 Meter Quick-Deploy in early 2008. The capability is planned for
other models during calendar year 2008.
Low-PIM test functions are located in Andrew’s
Richardson, Texas and Whitby, Ontario facilities.
Andrew’s Satellite Communications Group, part
of the Antenna and Cable Products Segment, provides a complete line of
antennas from 46 centimeters to 9.4 meters and radio frequency
electronics for all enterprise, government/military, and consumer
satellite communications applications. Andrew-designed and -built
products—which cover C, Ku, K, X, and the
emerging Ka band—include approved earth
station antenna hubs and gateways for broadband and broadcast, VSAT
broadband antennas and transceivers for consumer and enterprise
customers, DTH antennas and LNBFs for home satellite broadcast systems,
high frequency and air traffic control radar antennas for governments,
and complete installation and testing services.
