Andrew Introduces Java-Based Project Management Software For Mobile Operators

May 18, 2006 WESTCHESTER, Ill.

Andrew Corporation, a global leader in communications systems and products, has introduced Omnix(TM) XSP for mobile operators, a next generation, Java-based extensible solution platform for project and workflow management.

The Omnix XSP platform, which supports rapid integration with other operations support systems and enterprise resource planning systems, can be used by mobile operators for network site rollout management, asset management, network maintenance, financial planning, and resource management.

"With this next generation of our popular Omnix software, Andrew is first to offer mobile operators a J2EE (Java) platform that provides so many benefits in managing and planning networks," said Martin Coates, vice president-Europe, Andrew Network Solutions Group. "Omnix XSP will deliver a powerful suite of management functions unparalleled by other infrastructure or workflow management systems."

The Omnix XSP platform has been designed to be compatible with the TeleManagement Forum's eTOM (enhanced Telecoms Operations Map) initiative and adopts the general principles of the TM Forum's Next Generation OSS program.

Omnix is a workflow and infrastructure management system specifically designed for mobile network operators. It provides process and change management automation using project-based workflows that track every step in the project lifecycle. Omnix enables key business information and performance indicators to be presented to different types of users based on filtered views. For example, project managers will want to see all aspects of the project from the plan through key project status indicators, while the financial people will want to see the project budget, costs, and spend rate. Benefits include shortened time for deployment of new sites, increased productivity, cost savings on site and infrastructure, and improved asset tracking and inventory management.

Andrew Network Solutions, one of Andrew's five product groups, supports the entire network lifecycle with wireless network design, optimization, management, and location solutions for customers.
