Andrew Corporation, a global leader in communications systems and products, has been chosen by Cingular Wireless to provide network testing equipment for a nationwide network quality benchmarking program.

Under the agreement, Andrew will install its Invex3G(R) wireless network drive test system in specially-equipped Cingular vehicles for collecting network data in wireless markets across the U.S. The data collected by Invex3G during drive testing will help Cingular quickly identify and remedy competitive network quality and coverage issues that may impact subscribers.

Cingular recently announced its technicians, along with other third parties, will drive test its network nearly 30 million miles--and invest more than $6 billion--in the next year to improve network coverage and quality. This is part of the company's continuing focus on providing customers with the best wireless experience possible. The company selected Andrew's Invex3G competitive bench marker as its measurement solution after extensive field trials.

"Andrew's Invex3G system will enable technicians to gather the data required to fine tune our network," said Mike Pietropola, vice president of network operations, Cingular Wireless. "The network is the foundation of our business. We need the best tools available for testing network quality and coverage in order to give our customers the best wireless experience in the country."

"We are proud to expand our relationship with Cingular by supporting this important network quality project," said Terry Garner, group president, Network Solutions, Andrew Corporation. "Invex3G works wonders in helping operators identify opportunities to enhance network performance and subscriber satisfaction. Every mile driven with Invex3G is another step closer to the highest level of customer satisfaction."

Invex3G enables wireless network operators to view their services from the subscribers' perspective. Invex3G provides critical quality-of-service measurements including mean opinion scores, data throughput, and call details. Invex3G provides the objective means for network operators to assess and improve service levels and utilization of key resources.

Invex3G supports all major mobile wireless technologies and simultaneously can scan multiple radio frequency carriers for multi-technology testing. Pairing drive test high-speed data-collection hardware with an easy to use, flexible PC graphical user interface and display, Invex3G provides a complete measurement solution for wireless network planning, maintenance, optimization and benchmarking. Invex3G is part of Andrew Network Solutions Group's industry-leading software suite of mobile network design and optimization tools and services.
