CommScope Introduces Its Enhanced Shielded Solution to the SYSTIMAX® GigaSPEED® X10D Solution Portfolio

March 16, 2011 RICHARDSON, Texas

CommScope, Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, introduces its enhanced shielded solution to the SYSTIMAX® GigaSPEED® X10D Solution portfolio.

“For years, CommScope has been a leader in the development of unshielded twisted pair technology,” said Morgan Kurk, senior vice president, Enterprise Intelligent Buildings, CommScope. “With the introduction of our new shielded Category 6A/Class EA solution, CommScope can now offer customers a best-in-class option for both unshielded and shielded solutions to support 10G Ethernet requirements. Moreover, this enhanced solution will allow users to choose from an Intelligence-enabled or Intelligence-ready infrastructure for their network.”

Built from the ground up, the GigaSPEED X10D Shielded Solution is based on the patent-pending HGS620 shielded information outlet and the new Evolve panel platform. With this new solution, customers can enjoy the same design freedom they get with CommScope’s GigaSPEED X10D Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Solution with one-meter cords and three- or five-meter cables. Customers that prefer shielded infrastructure can now deploy short shielded channels in data centers and anywhere else they choose.

As the shielded panels are built on the new Evolve panel platform, iPatch® Intelligent panels can be included and upgrades to Intelligence in the field are easy, without any network disruption. By integrating CommScope’s industry-leading network intelligence solution with this new shielded solution, customers now have complete visibility and control of their shielded physical layer infrastructure.

This shielded solution allows for easy termination and has been specifically engineered with enhanced performance to support 100-meter channels as well as short channel configurations, offering maximum flexibility and minimizing excess cable and patch cord lengths. It complies with the ratified IEEE 802.3an 10GBASE-T standard, Class EA cabling channel specifications and Category 6A cabling specifications. The new outlet is also TAA compliant for use in the government enterprise networks.

This next-generation solution supports the bandwidth needs of today’s enterprises and the needs of more demanding applications such as high resolution video, cloud computing, data centers and Storage Area Network/Network Attached Storage (SAN/NAS).

Consistent with all CommScope’s infrastructure solutions, the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D Shielded Solution is engineered and manufactured to the highest performance and reliability standards and backed by CommScope’s 20-year applications assurance warranty. It delivers the design, speed and intelligence you need to take your business further.
