CommScope’s Andrew Solutions Lands on China Unicom’s Vendor List

December 1, 2010 BEIJING

China Unicom has added Andrew Solutions, the CommScope, Inc. division that is a global leader in wireless communication systems and products, to its list of approved vendors for remote electrical tilt (RET) base station antennas, centralizing antenna procurement for the operator’s ongoing 3G network build-out.

“Being added to the approved vendor list is another step forward in our commitment to China Unicom and its effort to build a world-class WCDMA platform for 3G subscribers,” said Chinnee Tong, vice president of sales, Andrew Solutions. “Our leading RET antennas, production capabilities in Suzhou, China, and extensive experience in supporting 3G networks will help us meet China Unicom’s needs.”

By adding the CommScope wireless unit to its approved vendor list, China Unicom has enabled regional offices to select Teletilt® sectored single- or dual-polarized base station antennas for centralized purchase. China Unicom chose Teletilt antennas after rigorous testing and screening. CommScope’s wireless division also supplies other RF Path products to China Unicom for its WCDMA communication network, including transmission lines, connectors, and accessories.

RET antennas enable wireless operators to adjust remotely the downtilt of antenna coverage patterns in order to manage capacity for subscribers. This antenna solution also helps reduce costs associated with tower visits for manually adjusting antennas. Teletilt antennas have been deployed in many advanced wireless networks around the world.

Since the early 1970s, CommScope’s Andrew has provided leading wireless infrastructure solutions to Chinese telecom operators and OEMs, and established longstanding and stable partnerships with them. The wireless unit’s various facilities in China, including an R&D center in Shanghai and manufacturing in Suzhou, provide extensive design and mass production capacity to the domestic market, ensuring timely delivery of first-class products to Chinese customers.

Teletilt is a registered trademark of CommScope, Inc.
