Randy Crenshaw, chief operating officer, CommScope, Inc., is one of eight recipients of the Wire and Cable Manufacturers’ Alliance’s (WCMA) 2011 Distinguished Career Award.
The award will be presented to Crenshaw during the 27th Annual Awards Dinner and Investiture Ceremony on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in Hartford at the Connecticut Convention Center. The WCMA’s board of directors selects new yearly recipients of strong character and credibility who have made significant commercial or technical contributions over a minimum 25-year industry career.
“I’m honored to be receiving this award from WCMA because of what it represents within our networking industry,” Crenshaw said. “All recipients have worked extremely hard to make significant contributions to this industry, and I’m proud that the WCMA is not only recognizing us, but remains committed in supporting the manufacturers of wire and cable products.”
Crenshaw, who is based in Richardson, Texas, has spent most of his career at CommScope, and was recently named COO following the company’s acquisition by The Carlyle Group in 2011. Previously, he was the executive vice president and chief supply officer. From 2004 to 2010, Crenshaw was executive vice president and general manager of the Enterprise business unit within CommScope. From 2000 to 2004, he served the company as executive vice president, Procurement and general manager, Network Products Group. Crenshaw also held various product development and engineering roles at CommScope during his first 15 years—from 1985 to 2000.
Before joining CommScope, Crenshaw worked at General Cable’s CATV facility in Pearl, Miss. as plant manager and engineering manager from 1980 to 1985. Crenshaw was the founding member for CommScope when the Communications Cable and Connectivity Association (CCCA) was established.
The WCMA was established in June 2004 as the successor organization to the Wire and Cable Clubs of America. WCMA is a corporate membership organization for manufacturers of conductor, insulated wire, cables, fiber-optic cables and connectivity products with an established manufacturing base in North America, as well as industry suppliers and service providers. WCMA works to facilitate the exchange of mutually beneficial market and technical information and to provide support to relevant industry organizations that serve the industry and its membership.
