CommScope’s Wyatt Named to Legal Elite List

March 16, 2012 HICKORY, NC

CommScope’s Frank B. (Burk) Wyatt, II, has been named to Business North Carolina magazine’s Legal Elite list, an accolade he has achieved five out of the last six years.

“About 600 practicing attorneys in North Carolina were named to the Legal Elite list this year,” said David Kinney, editor-in-chief, Business North Carolina. “Mr. Wyatt was one of more than 50 selected in the business category, which is quite an achievement.”

The complete list appeared in the January 2012 issue, and Wyatt has been named to the Legal Elite list in the categories of corporate law or business law. Wyatt, who is CommScope’s senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, has been with the company since 1996. He also serves as chief compliance and ethics officer.

“I’m honored to be receiving this accolade from Business North Carolina,” Wyatt said. “This honor is a testament to my entire legal team here at CommScope, because if it wasn’t for their hard work and dedication, none of this would be possible. I’m proud to say that I work with the best legal team in the business. ”

Wyatt added that his legal team represents CommScope in the approximately 100 countries in which the company conducts business and serves more than 11,000 employees worldwide.

Prior to joining CommScope, Wyatt was an attorney in private practice focusing on technology and intellectual property law with the firm Bell, Seltzer, Park & Gibson, P.A. (now Alston & Bird LLP) in Charlotte. He commenced his legal career after earning his juris doctorate degree from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1987.

Since 2002, Business North Carolina magazine has honored lawyers by publishing Legal Elite, a listing of the state’s top lawyers in business-related categories. Winners are chosen not by the magazine’s editors but by the state’s lawyers. Legal Elite includes the top lawyers chosen using a statewide ballot, which is sent to more than 19,000 lawyers. Those receiving the most votes make up the Legal Elite.

Business North Carolina is a Charlotte-based monthly magazine that focuses on the people, events and trends that shape business in North Carolina. Since it began publication in 1981, it has won more than 90 national awards for its writing, reporting and design.
