SYSTIMAX Solutions™, the worldwide leader in structured connectivity solutions, today announced that it supplied the SYSTIMAX® 10-Gigabit Ethernet over copper/UTP (unshielded twisted pair) end-to-end cabling solution to Deloitte for its new primary data center. SYSTIMAX BusinessPartner, Dimension Data Advanced Infrastructure (DDAI), installed the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED® X10D Solution at the center in Woodlands Office Park in Johannesburg. The SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D Solution offers end-to-end, 10 Gigabit network connections that comply with current IEEE 802.3an 10GBASE-T specifications as well as proposed TIA and ISO/IEC specifications for Category 6A/ Class EA cabling.
Commenting on its new data center, Mark Baillie, Consultant to Deloitte said: “This is Deloitte’s second data center in the Woodland Office Park in South Africa to be built as part of the firm’s service continuity plan. We believe the GigaSPEED X10D Solution delivers the highest throughput available today on UTP copper cabling.”
The new center supports Local, Campus and Wide Area Networks (LAN, CAN and WAN) and acts as a back-up disaster recovery facility. As part of Deloitte’s system upgrade path, the GigaSPEED X10D Solution also gives the center the bandwidth it needs for new, network-intensive applications such as VoIP and converged networking.
DDAI also constructed the single story, 200 m2 data center, which has raised flooring along with advanced fire protection, cooling and security features, was finished on schedule. Five hundred 10 Gb/s panel-to-panel environmental connections were installed in the data center and another 48 went into adjacent development areas.
SYSTIMAX Solutions believes it is the first vendor to provide a full UTP solution that complies with the latest IEEE 802.3an specifications for 10GBASE-T as well as proposed TIA and ISO/IEC specifications for Category 6A/Class EA cabling. SYSTIMAX Solutions developed GigaSPEED X10D cabling to meet these new standards, providing a next-generation total solution that supports both the bandwidth needs of today and even more demanding applications expected in the future. These network-intensive applications include high-resolution video, grid computing and Storage Area Networks.
