Single Network Infrastructure Delivers Reduced Costs, Greater ROI and Building Lifecycle Management

CommScope presents Intelligent Building Infrastructure Solutions (IBIS) at Cityscape Dubai
October 8, 2007 DUBAI, United Arab Emirates

CommScope, Inc. (NYSE:CTV), a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks and owner of the SYSTIMAX® Solutions brand, is showcasing its leading-edge technology at Cityscape Dubai - the world’s largest business-to-business property investment and development event.

CommScope will present the Intelligent Building Infrastructure Solutions (IBIS Solution) – an advanced integrated copper and fiber optic networking solution that supports multiple applications on a single cabling system. Designed by CommScope Laboratories, IBIS provides infrastructure solutions for architects, building owners, commercial realtors, contractors, consultants, developers, facilities managers and property management firms.

A regional pioneer in the delivery of high performance network infrastructures, CommScope technology has been employed in some of the largest and most prestigious network connectivity and intelligent building projects in the Middle East, including The King Abdulaziz Endowment Project in Saudi Arabia. Facing the Holy Mosque in Mecca, this facility will ultimately offer accommodation and a range of technically advanced services to over 75,000 people across a single IP-based cabling infrastructure. Other notable projects include the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Aspire Sports Academy, Emirates Towers and Dubai Internet City.

“Information technology in buildings is no longer limited to PCs and telephones. Today’s structures include Building Automation Systems (BAS) including security, heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC), and Fire/Life/Safety (FLS). We believe that a common infrastructure that collectively supports all systems reduces costs through enhanced network efficiency and greater ROI and building lifecycle management,” said Wes Tweedley, technical manager for Middle East, Pakistan and Africa for SYSTIMAX Solutions, CommScope.

“As building owners, facility managers and tenants consider the impact of modern technology on their respective businesses, from both an operational and revenue generating perspective, they recognize the benefits of network integration (systems, devices and applications) within their facilities.

“Technology transcends from electro/mechanical and pneumatic technology to microprocessor based software driven systems. These systems are required to interface with other building automation systems and devices while interfacing with voice, data, LAN and video systems located within a building or campus,” said Tweedley.

“The dynamic characteristics of IBIS provide ease in adaptation to tenant needs, while reducing the continuous cycle of operational costs associated with various building structures,” added Tweedley.
