HICKORY, N.C., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CommScope, Inc., (NYSE:
CTV), a world leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks,
announces the introduction of the 30EC Modular Battery Cabinet. This cabinet
is designed as a reserve power storage system capable of using multiple vendors'
batteries. As a modular adjunct battery cabinet, the design supports increased
DSL capacity in previously deployed systems.
The CommScope 30EC Modular Battery Cabinet, with dimensions of 31" wide
x 30" deep x 31.5" high can be stacked two cabinets high to double
the capacity. This stacking offers a "pay as you grow" approach, keeping
initial installation costs to a minimum. The cabinet is designed to accommodate
batteries from leading suppliers of lead acid or nickel cadmium telecom batteries.
The Modular Battery Cabinet benefits include:
-- two shelves in each module for increase in battery backup
-- AC powered battery heating system for prolonged battery life
-- separate breakers for installation, turn-up and maintenance control of
each battery string
-- quick disconnect battery cabling system for each shelf, allowing for efficient
installation
-- alarm and status signals that report operational conditions to the control
cabinet
-- weather-hardened enclosures that protect the batteries and other equipment
-- multiple conduit and placement options that provide ease and flexibility
of cabinet placement next to the host cabinet
"In addition to the above benefits, all CommScope battery cabinets come
with our enhanced cooling system and a battery heating system to keep batteries
close to the optimal temperature for improved battery performance and longer
battery life," said Ted Hally, executive vice president and general manager,
Carrier.
