CommScope announces continued success of Extremeflex® FXL 1873

HICKORY, N.C. (March 28, 2007) – CommScope. Inc. (NYSE: CTV), a world leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks, today announced that the 2006 launch of Extremeflex® FXL 1873 has resulted in broad acceptance of CommScope’s wireless aluminum cable design in markets that have traditionally used 50-ohm copper transmission line systems.

“CommScope is extremely pleased with the positive response we have received from our customers using FXL 1873,” said Ted Hally, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CommScope Carrier Solutions. “It appears that many of our primary carrier customers quickly recognized that CommScope’s Aluminum FXL 1873 cable offers premium performance characteristics at competitive prices. Consequently, it is apparent that our wireless aluminum cable design is becoming more and more attractive to carriers because of the volatility in copper raw materials markets.”

With the Fall 2006 introduction of its new FXL 1873 1-5/8" cable, CommScope Wireless completed its current portfolio of aluminum transmission cables and subsequently installed it in 26 U.S. states by the end of 2006. The Extremeflex products’ success is built around CommScope’s patented, smooth-wall cable construction that features a patented aluminum outer conductor.

The Extremeflex line is available in 1/2", 7/8", and 1-1/4" sizes in addition to the new 1-5/8" cable size. CommScope also offers a 1/2" super flexible cable that works well in cabinets or shelters where complex routing is common. Cell Reach® and Extremeflex smooth-wall transmission line cables are approved for outdoor or in-building riser-rated applications and backed by a 10-year warranty. CommScope Wireless is ISO-9001 and TL-9000 certified. Standard CommScope services include on-site technical support, free regional installer training, 24-hour phone support together with user-friendly, on-line purchasing of select products and the industry's only dedicated cable transport fleet within the continental U.S. For more information about this and other CommScope products and solutions, visit CTIA Booth number 4172.
