CommScope launches new version of its Extremeflex® 7/8”

HICKORY, N.C. (March 27, 2007) – CommScope, Inc., (NYSE: CTV), a world leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks, today introduced a new version of its aluminum 50-ohm 7/8” Extremeflex® cable. The new FXL 780 cable is smaller in diameter than its predecessor and designed to provide customers with improved installation features such as greater flexibility and standardized hardware accessories.

CommScope’s years of aluminum cable experience have enabled the company to produce a global 7/8” cable that offers standardized hardware and accessories while maintaining its superior electrical and mechanical performance as determined by published industry specifications. The FXL 780 cable supplements CommScope’s already extensive line of Extremeflex cables that offer lighter tower loading, greater flexibility and lower life cycle cost by reducing on-going maintenance.

“FXL 780 is currently being installed globally with select major carriers on a trial basis,” said Senior Vice President Larry Nelson, CommScope’s Chief Technical Officer for Wireless Engineering. “Feedback has been extremely positive with regard to electrical performance and mechanical handling. We envision FXL 780 as the next generation 7/8” cable and expect FXL 780 to gain worldwide acceptance as a cost-effective alternative to traditional 7/8”copper-based products.”

The Extremeflex line is available in 1/2", 7/8", and 1-1/4" sizes in addition to the new 1-5/8" cable size. CommScope also offers a 1/2" super flexible cable that works well in cabinets or shelters where complex routing is common. Cell Reach® and Extremeflex smooth-wall transmission line cables are approved for outdoor or in-building, riser-rated applications and backed by a 10-year warranty. CommScope Wireless is ISO-9001 and TL-9000 certified. Standard CommScope services include on-site technical support, free regional installer training, 24-hour phone support, user-friendly, on-line purchasing of select products, and the industry's only dedicated cable transport fleet within the continental U.S. For more information about this and other CommScope products and solutions, visit CTIA Booth number 4172.
