CommScope announces wireless aluminum products’ acceptance by major global carriers

HICKORY, N.C. (March 26, 2007) – CommScope, Inc., (NYSE: CTV), a world leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks, announces increased worldwide acceptance of its aluminum transmission line cable systems by major global carriers. In 2006, CommScope more than doubled its year-over-year shipments of Extremeflex® 50-ohm aluminum cable products.

“We are very pleased with the level of acceptance major carriers have given to our Extremeflex aluminum products,” said Ted Hally, CommScope’s Executive Vice President and Carrier General Manager. “We believe we offer the most complete aluminum wireless product solution in the industry today and expect this trend to continue as carriers become more familiar with the advantages of our aluminum smooth-wall technology. All of our customers worldwide are now using aluminum products.

“We believe the rising cost of copper along with electrical performance and mechanical handling are shifting the industry mindset toward aluminum over copper,” Hally continued. “Some of the advantages of our aluminum products include improved flexibility, lighter tower load and lower life cycle cost.”

CommScope’s smooth-wall, water-resistant, triple-bonded design and 10-year warranty give contractors and carriers confidence that little to no maintenance will be required in their installations. According to published industry specifications, Extremeflex cables have better overall electrical performance than major competitors’ aluminum products. CommScope also offers the most complete line of aluminum products available in the industry today.  For more information about this and other CommScope products and solutions, visit CTIA Booth number 4172.
