| HICKORY, N.C., April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CommScope,
Inc. (NYSE: CTV), a world leader in cable and connectivity
solutions for communications networks, today announced that its
CommScope Wireless Transmission Line System met or exceeded
qualification field tests conducted by Hoermann Kommunikationsnetze
GmbH, an internationally recognized general contracting company
responsible for building wireless cell sites in Germany. Hoermann
is expected to begin installing CommScope 50-ohm wireless cable and
connector systems in more than 30 sites in Germany beginning in
April 2005.
"We believe our Cell Reach(R) and Extremeflex(R) cables and
connectors offer a valuable alternative to traditional corrugated
systems," said Ted Hally, Executive Vice President and General
Manager of CommScope Wireless and Carrier Solutions. "CommScope
Wireless products continue to meet the demands of customers, such
as Hoermann, who are looking for the lower life cycle cost and high
performance our smooth-wall products provide. In addition, tests
conducted under extreme environmental conditions show that our
patented cable and connector design is capable of excellent
long-term reliability and outstanding performance without the
additional installation time and cost of secondary
weatherproofing."
Hoermann is a general contractor for a major wireless operator
in Germany and was responsible for overseeing the field test.
"After seeing the performance results of CommScope, the
certification was obvious," said Hoermann's Managing Director
Manfred Braun.
"The value-added attributes like great quality, excellent
customer service in Germany coupled with the delivery capabilities
from CommScope's Belgium facility sealed the deal with Hoermann,"
said Peter Rorbach, CommScope Wireless' Business Director in North,
Central and Eastern Europe. "We believe the relationship between
CommScope and Hoermann will be beneficial to both companies as well
as the mobile customers in the region."
