| HICKORY, N.C., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CommScope, Inc.,
(NYSE: CTV) a world leader in the design and manufacture of
high-performance, broadband communication cables, today announced
expanded production capability and a new, lower pricing structure
for all CommScope Wireless coaxial cables, connectors and jumper
products.
"After several years of expansion, research and development,"
said Larry Nelson, Executive Vice President of Development,
"CommScope now has three plants on three different continents
online to manufacture and distribute CommScope Wireless products.
We have also made manufacturing and design improvements that allow
us to lower prices for all CommScope Wireless coaxial cables,
connectors and jumper cables."
CommScope's Newton, NC, plant, which is dedicated to wireless
cable manufacturing and distribution, is now fully operational and
TL 9000 certified. In addition, our plants located in Seneffe,
Belgium and Jaguariuna, Brazil have the capability to manufacture
and distribute CommScope Wireless products.
Other improvements that have resulted from CommScope's capital
investment, research and development efforts for its current
wireless product line include several new wireless products and
cable manufacturing improvements that the company believes will
offer cost savings for its customers while improving installed
performance at antenna sites.
An example of the new, cost-saving improvements is CommScope
Wireless' redesigned and improved "A" Series connectors that are
the result of several years of development and capital investment.
To achieve cost savings, the connectors were redesigned and
reengineered to make more efficient use of materials while
maintaining the same high level of quality performance. CommScope
expects this new, improved and cost-effective "A" Series line of
connectors to set new industry standards just as their predecessors
did when they were introduced in 1997.
Also with an eye towards reducing cost while improving
reliability, performance and ease of installation, CommScope is
introducing new, reengineered SFX500 and FXL540 jumper cable
products that have been developed to provide cost-efficient, high
performance levels and improved life cycle cost while offering
customers the hands-on benefits of field assembly. CommScope
believes that all of these factors can lower customers' installed
cost for the company's wireless products.
CommScope is the world's largest manufacturer of broadband
coaxial cable for Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) applications and a
leading supplier of high- performance fiber optic and twisted pair
cables for LAN, wireless and other communications applications.
