CommScope Selected to Supply Wireless Technology to Carolina PCS I Limited Partnership
HICKORY, N.C., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- CommScope, Inc. (NYSE: CTV), a leader in broadband and high-performance communication cables, today announced that it has been selected by Carolina PCS I Limited Partnership as the provider of Cell Reach(R) coaxial cable and accessories for the initial build out of their wireless network in South Carolina.

Carolina PCS owns wireless licenses for the nine contiguous Basic Trading Areas (BTAs) in South Carolina which includes portions of Georgia and North Carolina. Their licensed area covers approximately 3.5 million potential subscribers throughout the region. Headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, Carolina PCS' management team has a total of over 100 years experience in the telecommunications industry with a proven track record of success in wireless start-up companies. Carolina PCS plans to make substantial investments in facilities, support systems, infrastructure, and back-office systems during the next five years.

Carolina PCS' all-digital wireless network will be compatible with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) standard. GSM is the leading digital wireless standard worldwide, with more than 160 million customers in some 130 countries.

Carolina PCS plans to extensively build out sites over the next three years within its licensed BTAs. Construction on the proposed sites is underway.
