BEIJING, February 24, 2009—Employees of the Sinopec
Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company (ZRCC) in Ningbo, China
will soon have more reliable, ubiquitous wireless coverage thanks to a new equipment
contract with Andrew,
the CommScope, Inc. division that is a global leader in wireless communication
systems and products.
The Chinese refinery and petrochemicals company will use Andrew’s advanced
wireless solutions to improve and strengthen wireless signals,
reduce signal jamming and expand coverage in indoor and outdoor areas of ZRCC’s
crude oil wharf, chemical park and other company facilities in Ningbo, China.
Andrew will upgrade ZRCC’s analog trunk radio system to a digital 800 MHz TETRA
(terrestrial trunked radio) system, the mobile radio standard often employed
by public safety and emergency organizations, to help alleviate communications
bottlenecking.
“ZRCC will make its new TETRA network available to multiple production units
and locations within its organization,” said Ben Cardwell, vice president of
sales and marketing, Asia Pacific, Andrew. “The result should be more effective
and uniform central management and dispatching among production and office areas
as well as improved resource sharing.”
Andrew will supply repeater
equipment, indoor
and outdoor antennas, coaxial
cable and cable assemblies, and other wireless network components
for ZRCC. Andrew is a leading provider of wireless solutions for locations vulnerable
to weak wireless signal levels such as subway tunnels, high speed train lines,
airports, sports arenas and other large buildings.
Andrew has long played a significant role in the Chinese market and recently
provided solutions for numerous significant projects such as National Center
for the Performing Arts, Ministry
of Environmental Protection Building, Beijing-to-Tianjin and
Shijiazhuang-to-Taiyuan
high speed railways, Beijing
Subway and Shanghai Metro. Andrew’s long history of providing
advanced wireless infrastructure solutions in China began in the early 1970s
and has led to its establishment of solid, long term cooperative relationships
with the major Chinese operators and OEMs. The company’s local manufacturing
and research and development facilities provide extensive in-country capabilities
for product design and production, a key factor in development of world-class
products and on-time deliveries to Chinese customers.
