BEIJING, August
11, 2009—Authorities
from China’s high speed Shijiazhuang-to-Taiyuan railway issued a certificate of
partnership excellence to Andrew Solutions™, the
CommScope, Inc. division that is a global leader in wireless communication
systems and products, for the company’s
superior support of wireless communications in the Shi-Tai line.
In the
certificate, the Shi-Tai authorities praised Andrew as “an outstanding supplier
with integrity that observes high standards in quality and contractual spirit.”
The certificate also stated that “the surrounding physical environments and
conditions [along the Shi-Tai line] are complex and tough. Andrew has provided
excellent service and met the technical requirements of our integrated project
for communication, signal, electricity, and traction power supply.”
Andrew
provided its RADIAX®
radiating cables to support wireless communications in the Shi-Tai
line, which has been operational since April 2009. Thanks to Andrew, passengers
taking the Shi-Tai line are able to access quality wireless communication
services, enjoying uninterrupted phone, text messaging and other applications
even when traveling through the tunnels in the railway.
"It is our
great honor to receive this award,” said Chinnee Tong, vice president of sales,
China,
Andrew Solutions. “Andrew has over 20 years of experience in
designing, testing, installing, and managing complicated wireless signal
distribution systems for metropolitan railways, tramways, and other large-sized
construction projects worldwide. It has applied wireless solutions successfully in
more than 30 subway projects including the ones in Beijing,
Shanghai, Guangzhou,
Nanjing and Tianjin. We are most pleased to bring
our expertise to the Shi-Tai line and make a contribution.”
The
Shi-Tai line has a total length of almost 190 kilometers and reduces the travel
time between Shijiazhuang and Taiyuan to about one hour. The line also
connects with the Beijing-Shijiazhuang high speed line, allowing passengers to
reach Beijing from Taiyuan in little more than two hours.
Andrew's
RADIAX cables are manufactured entirely in its Suzhou,
China plant, which the company announced expansion plans for in May 2009,
and where Andrew has outdoor and indoor cable test lines that simulate tunnel
conditions. The company’s local manufacturing and research and development
facilities in China
provide extensive in-country capabilities for product design and production, a
key factor in development of world-class solutions and on-time deliveries to
Chinese customers.
