Node X RF Enhancers

RF Repeater Systems

Andrew Solutions "off-air" digital Node repeaters bring coverage and capacity into large areas shadowed from the base station by hills, buildings, and other structures. These Node Xs are highly suitable for deployment in dense urban environments, tunnels, canyons, as hole fillers, or as network extensions. They can also be used as an efficient and low-cost alternative to base stations where coverage is more critical than additional capacity.

Node X digital outdoor repeaters increase signal strength between a mobile and a base station in areas where high-quality voice or high-speed data service is not available. They are ideal for the first phase of a network rollout or to optimize cost, coverage, and quality in any subsequent phase.

The built-in ICE (interference cancellation equipment) solution to feedback makes the Node X Series ideal for all outdoor applications. Without ICE a output power in the Macro Class cannot be achieved when antenna isolation is the limiting factor which is always the case when donor and coverage antennas are installed close to each other (for example, on the sample pole).

Node C: for IS-95, CDMA2000, Flash-OFDM, and EV-DO

Node X Application Examples

Node RF Enhancers in UMTS, CDMA, and GSM applications enable urban and suburban hole filling and a much higher data rate in their coverage areas.

All enhancers include the appropriate integrated measurement receiver and feedback canceller option.

  • Multiple power classes available for substitution of either a macro or micro BTS
  • Software programmable, allowing upgrades as network modulation migrates
  • No backhaul requirement, reducing both CapEx and OpEx expenses
  • Small size and weight for fast, one-man-lift, pole or wall mount installation
  • Easy to use, self-contained auto wizard for easy setup

Node Advantages:

  • Interference cancellation equipment (ICE): electronic improvement of antenna isolation; capable of greater than 35 dB of enhancement
  • Items measured (GSM only): measurement of BCCH, channel power, BER, FER, VSWR, RSSI, system identification
  • Items measured (CDMA/UMTS only): measurement of pilot power, synch power, Ec/Io, VSWR, RSSI, multipath signals, system identification, EVM and channel usage
  • Hopping ability (GSM only): follows the hopping sequence for complete network transparency (baseband and synthesized hopping)
  • Auto configuration: set up based on downlink power requirements not gain; uplink gain is automatically set up based on the downlink settings
  • Access: web browser based on local access and remote access; packet data and circuit switched data options; OMC connectivity via SNMP

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Andrew Solutions Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) provides high quality ac power for electronic equipment loads, especially for outside repeater systems. UPS is optional on all series.

  • Continuity of electrical power for at least 20 minutes up to 8 hours, within the defined limits and without interruption, when commercial ac source fails or degrades from overload, surges, or spikes
  • Hot swap battery replacement for easy, fast maintenance

Battery Backup Units

Low capacity batteries (BBU) operate controller and modem only for at least 10 minutes or provide UPS autonomy of 20+ minutes to 8+ hours. The BBU is standard on Node Series.
