i.Scan™—Evolves as your Network Evolves

i.Scan represents a radical departure in test receiver design. Each portable unit features two RF down converters that plug in to the back of the receiver. As your network adopts new transmission standards and adds bands you simply plug in a new down converter or just flash in the new software license.

It’s that simple.

The DSP processing in the i.Scan actually does the decoding for the various technologies. The down converters determine the frequency bands that can be received. The flexible signal processing engine in i.Scan enables you to decode and read CDMA, EVDO, GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA, and LTE with WiMAX, soon to follow. The Andrew Solutions goal is to keep pace with emerging technologies by developing and releasing firmware upgrades to support new generations of wireless standards.

i.Scan delivers the same flexibility and scalability across frequency bands, whether already in use or on the drawing board. Current bands supported include 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz, and 2100 MHz downlink, and 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1700 MHz, and 1900 MHz uplink. Additional bands available in the future include 450 MHz, 2.5 GHz, and 3.5 GHz.

Increase Drive Test Productivity Now.
More than a smart investment for the future, i.Scan™ delivers proven results from day one.

Speed
With two resident down converters, each i.Scan can test of up to six different bands, providing accurate, reliable high-speed RF measurements no matter what protocol you deploy. i.Scan also delivers among the fastest scanning speeds available. So you maximize your time in the field while minimizing potential downtime.

Accuracy
Conventional practice dictates that receivers—whether functioning within spec or not—be shipped to the manufacturer periodically to ensure the system is properly calibrated. The required downtime is costly and, in many cases, entirely unnecessary. So we designed i.Scan with an internal calibration check routine that runs each time you power up. Unless the system alerts you that the i.Scan is operating out of spec and suggests you send it to the factory, you are good to go.

Ease of Use
Financial concerns are forcing more and more wireless carriers to rely on non-skilled technicians to conduct drive test. So ease of use matters. With i.Scan, no special drivers are required. Simply plug in to the 100BASE-T Ethernet port and the built-in hub provides fast, secure connections with PCs, laptops, handsets and more. Finally, the i.Scan receiver is small, portable and light weight. It accepts nominal 12 Vdc power with an optional ac power supply, allowing you to use it in virtually an.

Keeps Your TCO Low and Your Options Open.

Total cost of ownership is a financial benchmark that reflects all the costs involved with owning a piece of hardware or software. Purchase price, upgrades, service, training, and inventory costs to name a few. It is a more precise measure of how much a network truly costs. In developing the industrys first modular drive test receiver, weve dramatically lowered the cost of ownership by:

  • Eliminating the need to replace or refurbish receivers
  • Reducing costs associated with stocking excess inventory
  • Decreasing the costs to re-train workers to perform drive tests
  • Minimizing network disruptions that can result from a technical upgrade

At the same time, weve left your options wide open. No matter what upgrade path you choose, your i.Scan will upgrade right along with you. Its a little extra peace of mind at no extra charge.

At Andrew Solutions, our holistic approach to design permeates everything we do, and is at the core of the new i.Scan test drive receiver.

We believe:

  • Network solutions should be flexible and scalable, capable of evolving as your network evolves
  • Ease of use will become more important as operators use more unskilled workers.
  • Total cost of ownership should be a key factor in any purchase.
  • The faster the industry evolves, the greater the need for simplicity in design.
