| HICKORY, N.C., July 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CommScope, Inc.
(NYSE: CTV), a world leader in cable and connectivity solutions,
today announced that its new AirBridge(TM) Wireless Plant Extension
product has won a Communications Technology Magazine Readers'
Choice Award for 2005. Based on a vote by the participants
attending the 2005 Cable-Tec Expo(R) held in June 2005, AirBridge
was selected over three other finalists in its category, "Best New
Distribution/Line and Transmission Product." The AirBridge system
is designed to enable the deployment of carrier-grade business
services to areas where multiple system operator (MSO) service is
not currently available.
"The rapid deployment of voice, advanced video and data services
over HFC, wireless and fiber is building the need for more and
better products like never before," said Jerry Gunderson, publisher
of Communications Technology Magazine. "This year's winners,
finalists and participants reflect an excellence and commitment to
the industry that will fulfill the promise that cable represents to
both residential and commercial customers."
AirBridge consists of a radio system that can transmit a data
channel to a receiver to deliver cable modem or other services to
subscribers within transmitter range. CommScope introduced it to
help MSOs deal with challenges associated with commercial zoning
restrictions, right of way problems or other delays often occurring
with traditional installations of new coaxial or fiber optic
cables. The AirBridge system is extremely craft-friendly and easy
to install, offering system transparency as well as the ability to
facilitate many services including DOCSIS(R) cable modem links and
VoIP to business customers.
