| RICHARDSON, Texas, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SYSTIMAX
Solutions(TM) today announced that it is now a principal member of
the Ethernet Alliance, an industry group dedicated to the continued
success and expansion of Ethernet technology. SYSTIMAX Solutions
expects to play a key role in assisting the Ethernet Alliance to
fulfill its mission of helping member companies increase acceptance
and reduce time-to-market of Ethernet products by supporting the
advancement of existing and emerging Ethernet technologies.
"The Ethernet Alliance is committed to the continued success and
expansion of Ethernet technology and SYSTIMAX Solutions is pleased
to participate and support this alliance as a principal member,"
said Luc Adriaenssens, Senior Vice President of R&D and
Technology. "With the 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard expected to be
ratified this summer, the Alliance will have a host of new
technologies to promote and support. We are excited to be able to
utilize our experience with 10 Gigabit Ethernet over UTP cabling in
order to aid the Alliance in its mission to promote industry
awareness and advancement of Ethernet technology and products."
Unlike past alliances that support single IEEE 802 Ethernet
projects, the Ethernet Alliance will exist for as long as it
remains relevant to IEEE 802 Ethernet technology. Its mission is to
support IEEE 802 Ethernet projects in a number of ways,
including:
- Speeding acceptance and time-to-market for new Ethernet markets and
technologies;
- Cultivating efforts to define and develop new Ethernet technologies;
and
- Educating Ethernet users on their choices and implementations for
various applications.
Moreover, the Ethernet Alliance removes the barrier of start-up
and organizational issues that surround individually dedicated
efforts, potentially saving both time and money.
"Within days of our public launch, the Ethernet Alliance
received numerous requests from companies who wanted to join. These
members truly represent the diversity of Ethernet supporters from
the carrier to the consumer," said Brad Booth, president, Ethernet
Alliance. "We are especially pleased to have SYSTIMAX Solutions as
a member of the Ethernet Alliance and look forward to adding their
unique expertise in this area to our organization."
Other members of the Ethernet Alliance include 3Com, ADC,
Aeluros, Agere Systems, Allied Telesis, AMCC, Aquantia, Beam
Express, Broadcom, Cisco Systems, ClariPhy, Extreme Networks,
Force10 Networks, Foundry Networks, Fulcrum Microsystems, Gibson
