| RICHARDSON, Texas, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SYSTIMAX
Solutions(TM), the worldwide leader in structured connectivity
solutions and services for businesses, today launched a
revolutionary cabling solution capable of supporting 10 Gigabit
Ethernet. SYSTIMAX Solutions believes it is the first vendor to
provide a full UTP solution that fully complies with the latest
IEEE 802.3an task force guidelines for 10GBASE-T. SYSTIMAX
Solutions has developed the SYSTIMAX(R) GigaSPEED(R) X10D Solution
to provide a next generation total solution that supports both the
bandwidth needs of today's enterprises and the needs of more
demanding applications such as high resolution video, grid
computing and Storage Area Network/Network Attached Storage
(SAN/NAS).
SYSTIMAX Solutions has a long tradition of producing innovative
cabling products that have consistently given enterprise managers
the peace of mind that comes with installing a leading edge
solution. The GigaSPEED X10D Solution is a natural extension and
evolution to existing Category 6/Class E specifications, which
SYSTIMAX Solutions was first to launch in 1997 with the GigaSPEED
Solution. The GigaSPEED X10D Solution is protected by the industry-
leading SYSTIMAX SCS 20-year Extended Product Warranty and
Application Assurance.
SYSTIMAX Labs has designed a solution that is compliant with the
latest cabling channel requirements set out by the IEEE 802.3an
task force. The IEEE 802.3an has adopted new channel specifications
for 10GBASE-T known as IEEE Model No.1 PSANEXT (Power Sum Alien
Near End Crosstalk) and Insertion Loss. These specifications are
also being adopted by the International cabling standard committees
in the creation of "new Class E" or "Augmented Category 6" cabling
specifications. SYSTIMAX Labs considers these channel
specifications technically stable and is introducing an innovative
cabling solution that fully supports these requirements over 100
meters including four connections.
Managing the interaction between cables, patch cords and
connectors is a major challenge in achieving the performance
required to support 10 Gb/s speeds. SYSTIMAX Labs utilized its
unique Modal Decomposition Modeling (MDM) tool to evaluate the
1,024 interactions between adjacent, as well as within individual,
cabling components to achieve substantial reduction in alien
crosstalk (ANEXT or noise from adjacent cables and connectors). In
addition, the performance of the GigaSPEED X10D Solution has been
tested and qualified in what is viewed as worst-case installation
channel test configurations, known as the '6-around-1' cable
configuration.
"Through tools such as MDM we believe we are able to provide our
customers with cabling that will see them into the future with full
channel performance of the system they have installed," said Luc
Adriaenssens, Vice President, R&D and Technology, SYSTIMAX
Solutions. "With the dramatic rise in the number of end users that
are simultaneously activating multiple applications, bandwidth
needs are inevitably going to increase. We believe that our
GigaSPEED X10D Solution is the most advanced UTP cabling solution
offered and are delighted to be the first vendor to provide a full
UTP, end-to-end 10 Gigabit solution."
Adriaenssens noted that high-speed technologies such as 10
Gigabit Ethernet are already being deployed in areas of the local
area network or LAN. "For the near term," he noted, "these may be
concentrated on the interconnection of high-performance servers and
switches in data centers, CAD stations and other high performance
computing environments, and backbone applications supporting
increased use of Gigabit Ethernet to the desktop. However, 10
Gigabit speeds to the desktop are expected to become a reality due
to steadily increasing bandwidth demands coupled with reducing cost
of interface electronics and the potential adoption of technologies
such as grid computing.
"Data centers are expected to be a huge driving force behind the
acceptance of 10 Gigabit Ethernet," Adriaenssens continued, "and we
expect other institutions, such as banking, medical and movie
studios, to be close behind. Businesses that use high-bandwidth
applications, multi-site collaboration, streaming media and/or
distributed processing technologies are highly likely to be early
users of 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Such businesses could certainly
benefit from the high-performance capabilities that the GigaSPEED
X10D Solution provides."
The GigaSPEED X10D product portfolio features:
- GigaSPEED 91 Series Cable, available in plenum, non-plenum and low
smoke zero halogen versions
- New, innovative Universal Modular Patch (UMP) Panel
- MGS500 Outlets
- GS10E Patch Cords
