CommScope’s Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

CommScope cares about the environment.  We believe that environmental stewardship should significantly impact our preservation of global resources. CommScope is building a solid foundation for our environmentally-conscious initiatives and here are some of our accomplishments.  

ISO 14001-2004 Certifications
We have earned ISO 14001-2004 Certification at many of our global facilities. This internationally recognized standard outlines a systematic set of organizational processes and practices designed to minimize harmful effects to the environment that might otherwise be caused by company activities. At the core of this systematic process is an ongoing cycle of planning, implementing, reviewing and improving organizational processes and actions to maintain continual improvement to the minimization effort. Maintaining this certification enables CommScope to be a better corporate steward of our environment while affirming our responsibility to our community, employees, stakeholders and stockholders through risk reduction, identifying cost reductions and providing competitive advantages.

Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program
Most of our U.S. facilities participate in the U.S. Department of Energy Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Reporting Climate Wise/Energy Star Program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions voluntarily.

RoHS Compliant
CommScope’s key locations are compliant with the European Union’s Directive of RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and Phase I of the China RoHS, which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in our products.

Recycling Programs
Yearly, we recycle more than 50 million pounds collectively of metals, plastics, paper and packaging materials for internal reuse or sale to other markets. Established in 1988, CommScope’s award-winning and innovative ReelSmart® recycling program enables us to reuse more than 100,000 cable reels annually, effectively saving approximately 29,000 trees. CommScope has received two N.C. Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Waste Reduction (Large Business Category) in recognition of this innovative program.
