CommScope Enters The World Of Digital Wideband Edge QAM

CommScope’s new, all digital wideband edge QAM is a dense, scalable QAM solution that is vital to supporting advanced and next-generation services over a HFC (hybrid fiber coax) network. By directly digitizing the entire 1 GHz band, this wideband edge QAM achieves superior RF, enhanced remote control flexibility, and significantly reduces deployment costs without disrupting service.

During The Cable Show here in Chicago, CommScope is showcasing our complete broadband solutions offering for the cable industry. As you know, CommScope got its start in the cable industry many years ago. This week marks a new chapter in our history.

We are introducing what we believe to be the cable industry’s first all-digital, carrier-grade wideband edge QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) solution—the LxS-16016. With the introduction of the CommScope LxS-16016 wideband edge QAM, we’re continuing our efforts to expand our product offerings to multi-system operators (MSO). CommScope’s LxS-16016 wideband edge QAM is a dense, scalable QAM solution that is vital to supporting more of the advanced and next-generation services over a HFC (hybrid fiber coax) network. It enhances our efforts to provide a complete solutions offering—starting at the head-end and finishing at the home.

In the video below, Shane Eleniak, vice president of Advanced Broadband Solutions, and Francois LaFlamme, vice president of Product Management, CAPS, explain on the show floor how the CommScope LxS-16016 wideband edge QAM offers up to 160 QAM channels on each of the 16 RF (radio frequency) ports totaling 2560 QAMs in a small, fully redundant 4 RU chassis. This density allows cable operators to have the flexibility of rolling out new services in the future without the need for costly truck rolls or disrupting service.
