Got HetNet Questions? Ask the Experts

The Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) is a commonly used concept describing the current state of wireless networks. Instead of being one homogenous system, wireless networks today can consist of many layers—the big macro cell sites, smaller layers in urban areas and indoor networks of various sizes and types. These different layers are needed in many locales in order to deliver the wireless experience users expect for their smartphones, tablets and other devices. Collectively, these layers comprise the HetNet.

As you can imagine, the HetNet is complicated and complex. Some common questions include:

• How do you get all these network layers to work well together?

• What is the best way to provide wireless coverage and capacity in unique locations, such as business enterprises?

• How can we improve the efficiency of the HetNet?

• How can the wireless networks deployed today be ready for tomorrow’s demand?

Have additional questions? If so, you have a chance to get them answered. The HetNet Forum is hosting its annual HetNet Expo October 27-28 in Los Angeles. At that event, a panel of experts will be fielding questions from the audience. The panel consists of small cell and distributed antenna system (DAS) vendors, including CommScope’s Patrick Lau, as well as specialists in system integration and installation.

The panel will answer questions from the audience in addition to ones posted to Twitter before or during the event. To ask a question via Twitter, send out a tweet using the hashtag #hetnetexperts. The @HetNetForum will be gathering the questions to have them answered during the panel. They will also post some of the answers during and after the panel.
