Andrew Corporation, a global leader in communications systems and
products, has added several innovative features to a new release of its
Odyssey(TM) cellular radio planning software system that will
significantly enhance wireless operators' ability to save network
planning time and infrastructure costs.
Odyssey 5.2, the highly robust and accurate network prediction solution
for wireless operators, enhances the Andrew Network Solutions portfolio
of measurement, radio and transmission planning, and automated cell
planning offerings for the entire network lifecycle. Innovative features
unique to the new Odyssey 5.2 provide operators with added capabilities
to accurately predict radio coverage, as well as simulate and store many
simultaneous versions of network designs for conducting trials of "what
if" network scenarios.
Odyssey is used by wireless operators worldwide and is backed up by
Andrew's global customer support services.

Odyssey 5.2 builds upon functional flexibility and direct database
access interfaces to provide operators with accuracy combined with
powerful customization of radio planning and optimization simulations.
One of the many new features of Odyssey 5.2 is scenario planning, which
provides network operators more flexibility than they have ever had for
radio planning. The concept of a scenario is similar to frequency
planning and neighbor planning, where multiple versions of the site
database can be created to trial and store multiple simultaneous radio
parameter designs. This is done by copying the current radio plan to a
scenario and then planning each phase of a current and future network
rollout, storing each phase as a unique scenario. These scenarios can
then be reviewed and the most optimum network rollout plan selected.
