CommScope and Comsearch to Showcase Innovative Wind Power Solutions at WINDPOWER 2012 in Atlanta

May 31, 2012 HICKORY, N.C.

CommScope, Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, and Comsearch, a CommScope company specializing in spectrum management services, will showcase their complete wind power solution portfolios during the WINDPOWER 2012 Conference and Exhibition in Atlanta next month.

“As the demand for energy continues to rise, utilities are looking for new ways to provide energy to its customers while also reducing their fossil fuel consumption, greenhouse emissions, and costs,” said Ric Johnsen, senior vice president, CommScope. “One way utilities are expanding their energy production is with the development of wind farms, and CommScope is there delivering various solutions that support wind farm developers' infrastructure needs that extend and protect their investment into the future.”

CommScope’s wind power solution includes fiber optic cabling solutions, ConQuest® conduit solutions and its award-winningGroundSmart® Copper Clad Steel solution—an alternative to copper grounding wire.

Comsearch’s wind energy services address the siting challenges resulting from complex telecommunications issues. Comsearch offers mitigation solutions to wind developers that address potential issues such as:

  • Licensed microwave analysis (or beam study)
  • Coordination with Federal government systems
  • AM/FM and TV analysis and baseline measurements
  • Land mobile and emergency services reports
  • Communication tower studies
  • Federal government and commercial radar studies
  • Custom impact assessments
  • Regulatory support

“Developers have come to recognize the value of a proactive conflict mitigation approach that can help avert regulatory delays and promote goodwill within the community,” said Chris Hardy, vice president and general manager, Comsearch. “This ‘good neighbor approach’ has proven successful in addressing and mitigating these issues before turbines are built, saving developers from costly corrective measures and helping communities enjoy the benefits of green energy.”

WINDPOWER 2012 Conference and Exhibition is hosted by the American Wind Energy Association, the national trade association for the U.S. wind energy industry. It will be held June 3-6, 2012 in Atlanta at the Georgia World Congress Center. CommScope and Comsearch will exhibit at Booth 6948 and have interactive demonstrations showcasing the solutions both companies have to offer the wind power industry.
