HICKORY, N.C.—A Plano, Texas resident has been awarded a prestigious engineering title by CommScope, Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks.

Amid Hashim was recently named a CommScope Fellow, the company’s highest level of technical achievement in engineering. He becomes the fourth current CommScope employee to hold this distinction.

“Amid’s technical contributions have pushed the entire industry forward, leading to significant success for CommScope,” says Scott Michaelis, manager, Research and Design, CommScope, and Hashim’s manager. “Every team member understands and respects Amid’s tremendous contributions and many of us have benefited from the technical presentations and mentoring that he has done and continues to do.”

A senior principal electrical engineer and the lead engineer for copper apparatus projects, Hashim has almost 40 years of experience in electrical engineering including radio frequency circuit design, optical/laser engineering and passive connector design. He is an intellectual property leader in the structured cabling industry and his contributions have helped make CommScope a leader in structured cabling for more than a decade. His inventions have proven critical in designing products to specification and are practiced throughout the industry.

Hashim currently works in CommScope’s Richardson, Texas facility and holds 43 patents, with four patents currently pending approval. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.

Technology companies like CommScope bestow the prestigious title of fellow on those employees who have a lengthy record of highly valuable technological contributions.
