Local Ad Insertion Award is Fifth Emmy® for ARRIS

SUWANEE, Ga., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ARRIS Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRS) has been awarded a 2012 Technical & Engineering Emmy® Award for "the development and commercialization of Digital Infrastructure for Local Cable Ad Insertion" by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). This makes the fifth Emmy awarded to ARRIS for its technologies since 2004. NATAS will present the Technology & Engineering Emmy Award to ARRIS in Las Vegas on Thursday, January 10, 2013 in conjunction with the CES 2013 Trade Show.

Today, the company's industry leading digital advertising solution, SkyVision™, enables operators to enhance and expand their existing TV advertising models and perform targeted, advanced VOD advertising and local insertion on digital cable networks from a single insertion system. SkyVision advertising management solutions are based on technology created by SkyConnect, Inc., which was ultimately acquired by ARRIS. The solutions have helped pay-tv operators transition their business from analog to digital and expand their digital services to support both SD and HD ad insertion.

ARRIS remains at the forefront in enabling IP and multi-screen advertising solutions that combine the power and maturity of its SkyVision linear ad insertion leadership with state-of-the-art solutions for connected devices.  To date, SkyVision solutions have captured approximately 60% of the North American market, while the complete ARRIS portfolio of linear and IP advertising solutions deliver over 6 million ad transactions daily. ARRIS advertising solutions are used directly or indirectly by 9 of the top 10 service providers in North America. The portfolio powers both linear and dynamic ad insertion that also enables new, expanded revenue opportunities for the delivery of ad content on connected screens and devices throughout the home.

"The NATAS Technology and Engineering Achievement Committee is pleased to honor ARRIS and all other technology companies and individuals whose innovation and vision have materially affected the way the audience views television and who have set the standard for technological excellence in the industry," said committee Chairman, Robert P. Seidel, Vice President of CBS Engineering and Advanced Technology.

"For MSOs, our digital ad insertion technologies provide a simple path to new revenue streams, whether it be transitioning their businesses from analog to digital ad insertion, maintaining their local advertising businesses, or expanding their digital services to support both SD and multiformat HD ad insertion," said Tom Williams, ARRIS VP Marketing & Business Development.  "We are honored that NATAS has recognized our technology for its innovation as well as its widespread adoption within the industry."
