The NVG578 are a series of advanced gateways for the GPON family of optical networking standards to deliver managed voice, video, data and IoT services with up to 10Gb/s symmetrical broadband.
GPON access (up to 2.5/1.25Gbps) is supported using cost-effective fiber on-board (BOSA) technology, with the capability to be upgraded in the field to XGS-PON (up to 10/10Gbps) or XG-PON (up to 10/2.5Gbps) using SFP+ (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) modules inserted in an externally accessible SFP+ cage. For service providers considering NG-PON2 in the future there is the option of an XFP cage for NG-PON2 modules. The access performance is matched by a 10 Gb/s non-blocking core routing capability in the gateway.
The LAN can make full use of the 10Gb/s access speeds with a 10Gb/s Ethernet port and high-performance Wi-Fi, that includes the option of 802.11ac or the latest 802.11ax standard for enhanced performance. There is the choice of dual-band (2.4GHz & 5GHz) Wi-Fi or tri-band (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 5GHz), useful for enhancing capacity & performance when used with Wi-Fi network extenders.
