Fiber-to-the Antenna Connectivity for Outdoor Macro Cell Sites
Finally, RRU deployment that makes (dollars and) sense
Densification for LTE and 5G networks—in both macro cells and outdoor small cells—is driving the need for versatile options in fiber connectivity to the RRU more than ever before. Choosing the most suitable fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA) configuration to build fiber backhaul networks can be time consuming and complex.
CommScope can help. Our HELIAX® FTTA solutions encompass a range of options for implementation of RRUs at the top of the tower. Simply choose your cabling and choose your connectivity. It’s that simple.
Choose your cabling
HELIAX Hybrid
HELIAX Hybrid FTTA cable delivers both fiber and power in a single, more cost-effective solution. Reduce the number of cable pulls and attachment points, saving time and money during installation on towers and rooftops. One cable also means fewer SKUs and less inventory to manage. HELIAX Hybrid FTTA cabling features a shielded assembly for a more robust and resilient solution. And, with a variety of breakouts, you can tailor a design to fit your needs.
HELIAX Discrete
For tower, rooftop and small cell deployments requiring design flexibility and lower initial cost, HELIAX Discrete FTTA solutions keep your options open. Separate fiber and power cables enable a highly customized solution—from connection and installation to fiber and power breakouts. Configurable fiber and power combinations mean you can scale each cable run based on your site’s unique requirements. The established and familiar discrete design also offers lower material costs.
HELIAX Modular
The HELIAX Modular portfolio is a breakthrough in FTTA technology. Configurable and compact power, fiber and hybrid cables let you customize the number of power conductors and/or fibers. Cables are individually sheathed in lightweight mesh cladding that reduces tower or small cell loads up to 50 percent. The result is a more flexible and lightweight solution that streamlines and simplifies cable management, reduces inventory SKUs, accelerates installations and expands your FTTA opportunities. All while providing the lowest total cost of ownership.
Pick your connectivity
HELIAX Standard
HELIAX Standard FTTA connectivity uses duplex and simplex LC connector interfaces. Select from a variety of configurations to meet all your breakout box and RRU requirements. With available external shrouds and boots, CommScope can provide additional weatherproofing as well. Applications include tower, rooftop and small cell deployments.
HELIAX SkyBlox™
HELIAX SkyBlox is our most flexible FTTA connectivity and power solution. It’s a fiber-agnostic breakout that supports multimode and singlemode fiber and features a low-profile, lightweight stackable design. Use it to add 5G or more 4G capacity today and add more breakout modules tomorrow to connect more antennas, radios, you name it. And, with SkyBlox, one power connector accommodates all conductor cable sizes. So, you’re good to go.
HELIAX Hardened
For applications requiring more environmental or tamper-resistant protection, trust the HELIAX Hardened FTTA connectivity portfolio. It offers the toughness of weatherproof hardened connectivity and the ease of single-handed, plug-and-play connectivity. Options include connectivity to the radio, direct-connect architecture and integration with our innovative SkyBlox solutions.
Fiber-to-the-antenna is your fiber-to-the-future
With more ways to connect and power more radios, RRUs and antennas faster and easier, CommScope keeps you future-ready, always prepared. And, because you can use any HELIAX FTTA connectivity solution with any cabling solution, your options are virtually unlimited. Rely on CommScope for a smarter, more flexible FTTA strategy.
