Airvana LLC, the 3G CDMA and LTE femtocell company, today announced that it has surged ahead of the competition to take the lead in overall global femtocell market share, according to the 2G, 3G, and 4G Femtocell Reportrecently released from Infonetics Research. Infonetics’ quarterly femtocell report tracks worldwide market size, vendor market share, and revenue analysis for the femtocell market, including analysis of the top femtocell equipment manufacturers.

Richard Webb, directing analyst for microwave and small cells at Infonetics Research noted that adoption by tier-1 customers, together with the higher ARPU enjoyed by EV-DO femtocells has helped to drive Airvana’s revenue market share to 22%, allowing them to take the lead in the overall femtocell market in 2Q11. Webb added, “Global femtocell revenue will grow nearly 40% in 2011, indicating that the market is accelerating and has started to achieve some scale. Infonetics anticipates that femtocells will gain mass-scale traction in 2012 and we’ll see the market increase by 100% in that year.”

“We designed a femtocell architecture that supports very large scale deployments and developed a high-capacity, high-quality manufacturing capability. Operators can be assured that these capabilities, as well as our advanced femto feature set, will be applied to our future LTE product lines,” said Mike Clark, General Manager of the Airvana Femtocell Business.

Airvana’s 3G femtocell supports both CDMA2000 1xRTT and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, thereby covering practically 100% of a CDMA operator’s subscribers. Additionally, Airvana’s standards-based femtocell management system enables plug-and-play deployment of femtocells while advanced algorithms automate the configuration of air interface parameters to achieve the optimal subscriber experience. This powerful, scalable management platform provides comprehensive operational and performance tuning capabilities so that operators can rapidly scale to millions of femtocells in their network.

“Airvana’s focus has always been on customizing our femtocell solution to best meet our customers’ needs, enabling them to use our femtocells in as many deployment scenarios as possible,” said Michael McFarland, Airvana’s Senior Director of Product Management. “The Infonetics report affirms that wireless operators are broadly utilizing Airvana femtocells for their service offerings, allowing them to satisfy customer demands while achieving a high return on investment.”
