CommScope Introduces FOSC® 550 Fiber Closure
New splice closure enables faster, simpler fiber deployment while maintaining the reliability trusted by service providers worldwide
Claremont, N.C. – September 22, 2026 – CommScope, an Amphenol Company, a global leader in network connectivity solutions, announced the launch of the FOSC® 550 fiber optic splice closure, a next-generation fiber solution designed to simplify installation, reduce deployment time and help service providers accelerate network expansion. The new closure will be showcased at SCTE TechExpo in Atlanta, GA September 29 – October 1, where CommScope will highlight the latest advancements in fiber connectivity infrastructure.
Building on more than three decades of FOSC innovation, the FOSC 550 closure was developed in response to direct installer and operator feedback. Built to streamline deployment in access, metro, core and wireless backhaul networks, the closure combines intuitive operation with proven performance to help field teams install fiber infrastructure faster and more consistently. Based on development testing, the solution has demonstrated the potential to reduce closure installation time by up to 50 percent while enabling technicians to become deployment-ready with minimal upgrade training.
The FOSC 550 closure incorporates a range of design enhancements intended to improve efficiency and reduce installation complexity. Its push-to-click sealing mechanism eliminates the need for grease, grommets, triggers and traditional bolt-tightening processes, helping operators reduce installation steps while maintaining dependable environmental protection.
In addition to installation improvements, the FOSC 550 solution offers enhanced flexibility for evolving network requirements. The closure supports a broad range of cable diameters and features an upgradeable architecture that allows operators to transition between configurations in the field without disrupting existing services. Independent cable sealing and improved bonding and grounding capabilities further simplify ongoing network expansion and maintenance activities.
