FastSelfClean™ connector technology
High-density connectivity. Ultra-low loss performance. Super-fast deployments.
AI factories are in a desperate race to deploy more capacity. Their scale-out and scale-across infrastructure investments must deliver greater fiber density and ultra-low loss performance—and they need to be deployed quickly, at scale, with limited labor resources and minimal risk, because time to first token is critical. CommScope’s innovative FastSelfClean™ connector technology can help meet all these needs and more.
CommScope’s recently-announced FastSelfClean™ connector technology delivers solutions to these challenges in an innovative new form factor that combines ultra-high density, low loss optical performance with faster, surer installation to help AI factories scale up, scale out and scale across.
What is FastSelfClean technology?

High-density, low-loss connectivity on your terms
Initially to be offered in a 144-fiber form factor, FastSelfClean technology features a stacked fiber architecture that packs incredible density into its compact footprint. To optimize optical matching, the adapter uses V-grooves to prevent lateral or angular movement during mating. Together, these elements yield exceptional low-loss performance in our densest fiber connector design yet, enabling up to 3,456 fiber connections in 1RU of space, mated with just 24 clicks.
FastSelfClean connectors will also be made available in customizable, stackable units of 8, 12 or 16 fibers to meet specific needs.

Built for speed
FastSelfClean technology is made to get data centers to first token faster. Built to remove obstacles of insufficient density, insertion and return loss, end-face contamination and network complexity, FastSelfClean technology is poised to change the way data centers scale up, scale out and scale across.
FastSelfClean technology enhances the Rapid Fiber Connect™ platform
FastSelfClean connectors will be compatible with CommScope’s Rapid Fiber Connect solution, making offsite configuration even faster.
Meeting your challenges
Virtually eliminates routine fiber inspection and cleaning
The FastSelfClean connector technology means faster, simpler and lower-risk installation because the fibers are concealed safely inside the shroud until mated via a stackable alignment engine through an active-cleaning mechanism that automatically washes the fiber end-faces in the process of connection—not only for the initial connection, but again and again. This innovative design virtually eliminates the need for routine inspection and cleaning at the time of installation. CommScope lab tests using the Telcordia GR-326 Arizona dust process reveal no significant increase in attenuation or reflectance was observed after the dust exposure—and no time-consuming inspection or cleaning required at any point in the process.

Before passing through active cleaning After passing through active cleaning
Combined with the technology’s high-density architecture, new deployments can be configured with fewer clicks, less risk, less time and less cost getting your rolled-in racks online faster.
Four ways FastSelfClean technology overcomes top data center challenges:

Ultra-low loss performance
FastSelfClean technology’s V-groove seating delivers exceptional optical performance—just <0.25 dB insertion loss—surpassing performance available from ferrule or lensed optical connectors, enabling greater energy efficiency of potential future optical systems.

Optimized for AI architectures
Designed for an initial offering in a 144-fiber connector, FastSelfClean technology’s stacked fiber architecture delivers our densest interface yet, enabling the mating of up to 3,456 fibers in just 24 connections, and unlocking even greater density from the Rapid Fiber Connect™ solution.

Reduces deployment time and cost
FastSelfClean technology virtually eliminates routine fiber inspection and end-face cleaning during installation. Fibers are protected inside the shroud until connected, and fiber end faces are actively cleaned on each insertion.
Dependable scale-up, scale-out and scale-across deployments
FastSelfClean technology provides a reliable migration path for multiple growth strategies, including optical scale-up deployments and those employing co-packaged optics. Its low loss and low insertion force characteristics are well-suited to such applications.
