HELD is a protocol for supplying location services whether a device user is connected via broadband DSL, enterprise LAN, Wi-Fi, or mobile 3G and 4G.

No doubt, texting is popular. But in an emergency situation, always call the emergency number to be sure that your message gets through to the dispatcher and that the rescue team can find you by using your cell phone's location-based sevice.

No one questions that wireless connectivity has become an in-building necessity in rapid time. Will pre-installed wireless cabling become common-place in afew years?

At CommScope, technology keeps evolving. The SYSTIMAX Ultra High Density Shelf (add link) recently was released to the data center market. It has an amazing capacity of 144 fibers with LC connectors. This density will solve many problems with high density collocation and blade server environments. This innovation has made me think back to how density has improved over time.

Anyone who has researched the wireless location marketplace knows that it is an acronym-heavy, jargon-filled industry. Particularly Andrew's recent announcement about a standalone SUPL is a bit confusing so let me explain it a little further.

The Higher Speed Ethernet subcommittee of the Ethernet Alliance recently conducted a first-of-its-kind industry “Plugfest” and CommScope’s OM3 and OM4 fiber optic infrastructure solutions exceeded IEEE 802.3ba requirements for high-speed performance and effectively demonstrated interoperability with all other vendor components tested.

I thought I’d share something that is very near and dear to my heart and has tremendous ramifications for data center infrastructure design. It’s the wonderful combination of pre-terminated MPO-based fiber architecture and the next generation of multimode fiber (fibre), called OM4.

Many trade shows take advantage of the spectrum management skills of Comsearch, a CommScope company. For almost 15 years, Comsearch has been helping exhibitors successfully demonstrate myriad wireless devices at large wireless telecommunications trade shows in the U.S. It’s kind of like air traffic control but for wireless devices instead of airplanes.
