Fiber Distribution Cabinet (FDC) – Overview

The FDC is a versatile, non-hardened enclosure designed for optical cable splicing in both FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and non-FTTH networks. It supports various applications, including:

• Enterprise customer connectivity
• Optical fiber cable (OFC) distribution
• Building entrance box
• Hosting primary splitters (S1/L1 – 1:8, 2:8, 1:4) for initiating FTTH ODN from the OLT

Key Features

• Modular Design: Contains up to 12 trays, each supporting 12 splices, providing a total splicing capacity of 144. Trays can be added in increments of four, facilitating a cost-effective, scalable "pay-as-you-grow" approach.
• Splitter Integration: Allows for the direct installation of primary splitters on the trays, enabling seamless transition from trunk to distribution networks within FTTH environments.
• Dual Network Management: Efficiently handles both trunk and distribution cables within a single enclosure.
• Monitoring Capability: Supports optical power monitoring for straightforward maintenance and fault isolation, minimizing disruption to active fibers and reducing mean time to repair (MTTR).
• Connector Compatibility: Designed to accept splitters with or without connectors and includes a 12-port adaptor plate compatible with SCxC adaptors.
• Cable Capacity: Supports up to 12 distribution cables and accommodates 144 splices for general splicing applications (recommended maximum of 8 distribution cables for FTTH to reserve trays for trunk splicing)
• Cable Diameter Support: Compatible with cables ranging from 3 mm to 15 mm
• Flexible Installation: Suitable for indoor or outdoor deployment, with options for wall mounting or pole mounting to meet various installation requirements
