That’s why CommScope took a leading role in developing a new landmark voluntary agreement with top service providers, manufacturers and industry organizations in partnership with the CEEVA Steering Committee, provincial governments, and leading utilities to improve the energy efficiency of small network equipment (SNE) in Canada. Importantly, the voluntary agreement demonstrates our support of Canada’s shared energy efficiency and climate change objectives.

In a press release issued on Dec. 19, 2019, CEEVA Steering Committee announced the launch of a new voluntary agreement to reduce the environmental impact of SNE products in Canada. Under the new voluntary agreement, service providers and manufacturers commit to improve the energy efficiency of devices such as modems, gateways, wireless routers and other networking equipment. The agreement ensures that 90 percent of new equipment will meet rigorous efficiency levels beginning January 1, 2021. The voluntary agreement builds on the success of a similar agreement for set-top boxes implemented in 2017, which has already delivered significant energy efficiency successes.

“Our passion to push innovation in energy efficiency is part of our design ethos at CommScope and partnering with countries who want to drive a sustainable future is a natural fit for us,” said Livia Nascimento, Vice President, Sustainability & Compliance, CommScope. “The Canadian SNE voluntary agreement serves as a great tool to drive improved product energy efficiency and gives us the freedom to innovate for the future.”

Our work with the Canadian SNE Voluntary Agreement is a natural extension of our approach to product development and sustainability, as our customers look to us as enablers of environmental conservation. CommScope continues to provide technical leadership to help establish these important industry agreements, and we regularly collaborate with our customers around the world to continually reduce our industry’s environmental footprint.
