This course is designed for a general audience including but not limited to Ruckus sales personnel, system engineers, VARs, Ruckus Partners, network managers, support personnel, and company employees desiring a high-level understanding of all Ruckus products.

Course Description:

This IP troubleshooting course provides an in-depth study of troubleshooting methodologies and processes when using Ruckus ICX Switch/Router products when they are used in enterprise networks. It will cover core competencies of various troubleshooting tools, logical analysis processes and display the native troubleshooting capabilities of Ruckus ICX switching products. We will be covering the  troubleshooting of core L2/L3 protocols including the Spanning Tree family of protocols, IPv4 and IPv6 routing, including OSPF and BGP, and Ruckus proprietary protocols including MCT, VRRP-E and FDP. This course based on Ruckus ICX OS (or FastIron) v8.0.40. Although some references may be made to more recent releases. 

Course Objectives: 

After completing this course, attendees should be able to use CLI and debug commands to diagnose and resolve Ruckus ICX issues including: 

  • Physical layer issues including optical and link state monitoring
  • Layer 2 (L2) loops and forwarding issues, including packet loss
  • Problems with L2 redundancy protocols including the different types of Spanning Tree
  • Layer 3 (L3) forwarding issues
  • Problems with various L3 protocols including, OSPF, BGP, and Multicast
  • Dynamic and static LAG issues
  • Problems with VRRP-E environments
  • ICX stacking problems
  • Issues with various types of management access
  • Problems with software upgrades

Prerequisites:

Before taking this course, attendees should have working knowledge of:

  • Ethernet and IP standard protocols including: Layer2/3 protocols including: Ethernet, VLAN, LLDP, LACP, STP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, PIM, IGMP, sFLOW, QoS
  • Equivalent multivendor certification of (Cisco, Juniper, Net10, Arista, HP) IP/Ethernet environment
