Andrew Outraces Competitors by Introducing Scanning Receiver to Its Invex.NxG Drive-Test System

December 8, 2008 HICKORY, N.C.

Andrew, the CommScope, Inc. division that is a global leader in wireless communication systems and products, has evolved its Invex.NxG™ wireless drive-test system, formerly called Invex3G, into the industry’s most complete network testing solution by introducing its own digital scanning receiver, called i.Scan™.

Unlike competitive offerings, Andrew’s Invex.NxG—with i.Scan—supports current and future wireless protocols. The i.Scan receiver allows for seamless updates to future wireless standards. By investing in the Invex.NxG solution, operators gain long-term, cost-effective access to reliable, high-speed measurement of wireless networks across multiple bands and technologies.

“Wireless operators who use other drive-test scanners know that they have limited upgradability and can be exceptionally expensive,” said John Baker, vice president and general manager, Andrew Network Solutions. “Invex.NxG is a holistic approach to drive-testing that gives operators peace of mind by offering an investment that retains more long-term value.”

Andrew’s Invex.NxG system enables wireless operators to view their own and their competitors’ wireless voice and data services from the perspective of the subscriber by providing critical quality-of-service (QoS) measurements. Invex.NxG identifies failed originations, abnormal ends, call setup time, and call quality for improving voice service levels. It also performs packet data testing for analyzing upload/download throughput speeds for data services. Invex.NxG can also be used by field personnel for independently checking network signal strength and identifying base station locations and sectors, assisting them in their jobs. The i.Scan receiver is being incorporated into all versions of Andrew’s Invex.NxG system including PC, Autonomous, and Chassis. It has also been designed as a standalone scanner, capable of integration into third-party products and applications.

“Network quality will always be one thing that can immediately ruin a customer relationship,” added Baker. “Invex.NxG’s i.Scan enables operators to make a smart investment in their networks to ensure that quality never suffers unknowingly.”

The i.Scan features up to two self-calibrating, plug-in DC cards, which can be quickly and easily changed in the field and which enable testing in up to five frequency bands. It is currently capable of measuring and decoding CDMA, GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA technologies with EV-DO, WiMAX and LTE planned for the future. It also can test many frequency band configurations including tri-band, dual-band, and single-band.

Invex.NxG and i.Scan are trademarks of CommScope, Inc.
