Andrew To Feature New Satellite Products At 2007 IBC Show

September 6, 2007 WESTCHESTER, Ill.

Andrew Corporation, a global leader in communications systems and products, will showcase several new satellite communications products at the 2007 International Broadcasting Communications show in Amsterdam September 7-12.

The products that Andrew will exhibit (at the RAI, indoors in hall #1, stand # 436 and outdoors at stand #O300E) include two new quick deploy antenna systems for military applications, a new flexible series of universal VSAT transceivers and low cost earth station antennas well suited for markets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Our new products are ideal for meeting the fast changing needs of the satellite market, said Jude Panetta, group president, Satellite Communications, Andrew Corporation. In this environment, high value must be combined with increased ease of use features and we work hard to develop products that help our customers achieve this.

Among the new Andrew products at the show are:

Quick Deploy Ku-Band 1.2 Meter Antenna System This new antenna system uses Andrews VSAT SMC antenna with a high accuracy aluminum tripod mount. No tools are required for assembly and the antenna system can be set up by one person in less than 20 minutes. Each unit weighs less than 95 pounds and meets FCC, Eutelsat and Intelsat antenna standards in Ku band. This new product features the outstanding performance of a field-proven antenna combined with a new innovative mount at a comparably low cost.

Rugged Quick Deploy 2.4 Meter Antenna System The new Rugged Quick Deploy System is designed for tactical defense and civil emergency applications. This model features a highly rigid design for operational stability with a gear driven elevation over azimuth pedestal on a tripod mount. The unit consists of 20 to 30 fewer parts than comparable military-grade antenna systems on the market, helping make it faster to set-up, break down and transport. Additional features that make the Rugged Quick Deploy 2.4 Meter a highly mobile field unit are lightweight carbon fiber/aluminum construction and modular design for easy packing. When packed for transit, the antenna system can be easily transported in military/commercial aircraft or ground transit vehicles. The use of palletized feeds enables rapid frequency band changes.

Standard configuration for the Rugged Quick Deploy 2.4 Meter supports feed boom mounted high power amplifiers (HPAs). The unit can also support reflector back structure mounted HPAs. The new antenna system can be purchased with aluminum, carbon, or rotomold travel cases.

Low Cost Four Meter Earth Station Antenna (ESA) Designed for use in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, the Low Cost Four Meter ESA is easy and quick to set up. The main reflector is self-aligning, requiring no optical equipment during installation. The new Four Meter ESA has an extremely accurate surface contour based on Gregorian optics that helps it achieve high gain and superior efficiency while operating in the C- and Ku-bands. This low-cost antenna system is available in multiple feed and mount configurations, including C-band two port linear and circular polarized feeds, Ku-band two- and four-port liner feeds, a standard fixed mount, and an optional 180º motorized pedestal mount. An optional equipment enclosure enables RF equipment to be located conveniently close to the antenna.

Each antenna system is backed by a three year limited warranty. The Four Meter ESA meets US FCC Regulation 25.209 at Ku-Band and is ITU-R S.580 and S.465 compliant. The Low Cost Earth Station Antenna is manufactured to meet EU RoHS environmental standards under directive No. 2002/95/EC.

DR- and XR- Series Universal VSAT Transceivers This new line of transceivers combines popular components such as a phase locked loop low noise block down converter, block up converter, orthomode transducer and transmit reject filter into one water-tight housing for this universal very small aperture terminal transceiver. The XR- and KR-series Ku-band transceivers are highly flexible. Each can be installed on any antenna and will operate with any known satellite modem with an L-band interface. With a flick of a switch, the transceiver can adapt to multiple Ku-band receive frequencies. This saves network integrators from having to invest in multiple LNB models for different frequencies. In addition, the terminal can be reconfigured easily, even after it is installed.

Andrews Satellite Communications Group, part of the Antenna and Cable Products Segment, provides a complete line of antennas from 46 centimeters to 11.5 meters and radio frequency electronics for all enterprise, government/military, and consumer satellite communications applications. Andrew-designed and -built productswhich cover C, Ku, K, X, and the emerging Ka bandinclude approved earth station antenna hubs and gateways for broadband and broadcast, VSAT broadband antennas and transceivers for consumer and enterprise customers, DTH antennas and LNBFs for home satellite broadcast systems, and complete installation and testing services.
