CommScope Helps Preserve Space in Data Centers with New, Ultra-High Density Fiber Solution

April 7, 2010 RICHARDSON, Texas

For data centers requiring more floor space and high-performance physical layer connectivity, CommScope Enterprise Solutions, a division of CommScope, Inc., introduces its new SYSTIMAX® 360 Ultra-High Density (UHD) fiber optic solution for data center environments.

Developed by CommScope Labs, the SYSTIMAX 360 UHD fiber optic solution is designed to support high-density data center fiber applications such as storage area networks (SANs). As density, computer loads and storage needs in the enterprise data center increase, CommScope’s SYSTIMAX 360 UHD Solution saves floor and cabinet space by enabling network architectures that were not previously possible while preserving migratory paths to next-generation data rates and reducing costs.

“Data center operators continue to face ever-increasing IT demands, cost pressures, changing technology and architectures. Our experts at CommScope Labs designed the SYSTIMAX 360 UHD solution with a 50 percent increase in usable density, enabling new data center architectures to face these challenges head-on,” said George Brooks, vice president of data centers, CommScope Enterprise Solutions. “The SYSTIMAX 360 UHD solution enables storage growth to support the explosion of network information, allows for future growth with its modular design, and provides a clear upgrade path for 10G, 40G and 100G applications. The complete solution makes the design, implementation and management of new, innovative ultra-high density data center architectures possible.”

The SYSTIMAX 360 UHD Solution is designed to support enterprise data centers requiring high density, rapid deployment and modular growth. With the ability to fit 864 fibers in a 1U space, the SYSTIMAX 360 UHD shelf provides the highest fiber-patching density currently available. Tailored for SYSTIMAX LazrSPEED® and TeraSPEED® fiber technologies, SYSTIMAX 360 UHD shelf facilitates integration of SAN directors into data center environments.

Using factory-terminated and -tested InstaPATCH® fiber MPO (multi-fiber push on) trunk cables and MPO/LC ruggedized fan-outs, pathway space is conserved while still providing easy accessibility to equipment ports. Other components of the SYSTIMAX 360 UHD Solution, including shelf and panel options, such as the SYSTIMAX 360 Modular 1U and 4U panels, provide alternative form factors that address tight IT budgets and cabinet space constraints while providing modular scalability with incremental expansion.

Like all CommScope solutions, the SYSTIMAX 360 UHD solution is engineered and manufactured to work the first time, every time for ease of implementation. CommScope backs its reliability by offering a 20-year warranty on all of its enterprise solutions, extending the life of data centers and IT budgets.
