CommScope Opens New Lab Facility in Ireland

October 12, 2007 BRAY, Ireland

CommScope, Inc. (NYSE:CTV), a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks and owner of the SYSTIMAX® Solutions brand, announces the opening of a new Research and Development Laboratory (R&D) at its European, Middle East and African (EMEA) headquarters located in Bray, Ireland.

This new facility, which represents an important strategic investment by CommScope in its SYSTIMAX Solutions™ operations, provides for an advanced R&D laboratory for the company and a real-time testing environment where customers’ network topology, design and challenges can be simulated and analyzed.

The R & D Laboratory is available to CommScope’s customers and channel partners. Designed to reflect a real-world IT (information technology) environment, the lab includes a complex set of equipment and components that replicate a typical enterprise network or facility operation such as a data centre. CommScope can now present its 10G structured copper cabling in a real-world environment with 10G equipment. The main display consists of a 100-metre channel carrying 10G Ethernet traffic in a worst-case environment where the copper cabling is surrounded by noise-generating cables.

David Tanis, technical director, EMEA, CommScope, stresses the significance of the comprehensive equipment housed in the new laboratory: “With the inclusion of 10G cabling solutions, active equipment and sophisticated software solutions we can now simulate an environment, integrate different elements, and identify and resolve potential issues as we closely review our customer’s network topology,” he said.

Anne Marie Kenneally, sales vice president for CommScope EMEA, welcomes the investment and advanced facilities for Bray: “Every day, our customer sites become more sophisticated,” she said. “Our goal is to provide complete information on available integration possibilities in any given office environment. The lab design capability provides our customers with the opportunity to secure their preferred structured cabling solution.”

According to Tanis, the new laboratory provides an exciting opportunity for customers. “CommScope already offers state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Bray, a fully-fitted executive briefing centre and sales/support facilities. CommScope’s investment in the Research and Development Laboratory reiterates our commitment to the world-class operation in Bray – as well as commitment of service to our customers.”
