CommScope to Demonstrate Data Center Solutions During Gartner Data Center Conference

November 30, 2011 HICKORY, N.C.

CommScope, Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, will exhibit during the December 5-8 Gartner Data Center Conference in Las Vegas as well as showcase three of its innovative data center solutions in the IBM Portable Modular Data Center (PMDC) system.

In addition to the company’s conference exhibit, CommScope’s David Hall, Solutions Manager, Enterprise, will also speak during the conference’s Solutions Providers Sessions.

The upcoming conference will mark the second time that CommScope has teamed up with IBM to demonstrate its solutions in its PMDC system, a fully-functional, mobile data center allowing for rapid deployment and installation in any environment. With a PMDC system from IBM, IT departments can quickly and easily expand their data center capacity to address critical bandwidth needs. One solution that can support those bandwidth needs is the InstaPATCH® ZERO server cabinet solution from CommScope.

Developed in collaboration with Rittal Corporation, InstaPATCH ZERO is a pre-terminated server cabinet solution and is ideal for organizations that intend to adopt a pre-terminated and flexible structured cabling solution for rapid server deployment. It was also developed for organizations that have high density environments with limited real estate and who regularly deploy and/or decommission servers.

“Ideal for use in the demanding network environments where a PMDC system is deployed, InstaPATCH ZERO allows data center customers to select a turn-key solution designed for rapid server deployment and change management,” said George Brooks, senior vice president, Enterprise Product Line Management, CommScope. “By helping customers with rapid deployment, we help them realize a higher investment value by saving time, money, and space while also enabling them to plan for tomorrow’s growth.”

CommScope will also demonstrate its SYSTIMAX® iPatch® Intelligent Infrastructure Solution. By combining intelligent copper patch panels and high-density fiber optic shelves with infrastructure operations software and control systems, CommScope provides network administrators with real-time configuration information related to network connectivity including identifying and mapping the physical location of devices connected to network equipment. This vision into the physical layer enables IT professionals to ensure the security of their network with the ability to quickly eliminate blind spots, immediately detect and locate network breaches and constantly monitor all moves or changes within the network.

Finally, the OneBase InSite® Connect solution from CommScope is a single comprehensive solution that remotely controls and monitors subsystems inside each site allowing network operators to coordinate and manage conditions across their network. By deploying InSite Connect, network administrators can manage the passive side of networks and link this to the active network management delivering resource, energy and asset savings. Collected data, when interconnected with the processes and operations of each facility via IBM’s Intelligent Site Operations, provide the foundation of IBM’s Smarter Planet™ solution. When integrated into the IBM framework’s software products including Netcool® and Tivoli®, the data is used to optimize business processes, asset management and resource management systems.

Hall will speak on Wednesday, December 7 at 3 p.m. on “How Can IT Infrastructure Keep Pace with Your Business.” The session will touch upon several topics including how:

  • Data center IT space continues to evolve as new technologies and architectures are introduced
  • Enterprises are challenged with the rapid growth of their facilities, while maximizing the utilization of their resources
  • Informed design decisions can save time, labor and installation costs today while facilitating future expansion

The Gartner Data Center Conference will be held at Caesars Palace. The CommScope booth (No. 56) will have interactive touchscreens showcasing many of the data center and enterprise solutions the company has to offer the industry.
