CommScope,
Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications
networks, will be showcasing and demonstrating its various innovative
solutions—plus its new brand identity—to the cable and broadband
industry during the ANGA
Cable Show, May 3 to 5, 2011 in Cologne, Germany.
CommScope will exhibit on Level 10.1/Booth U18, featuring the company’s
new logo and colors in a modernistic exhibition stand that uses
interactive touchscreens to showcase all the company has to offer across
the broadband, wireless and enterprise markets.
At ANGA, CommScope will introduce a new line of cost effective
fiber-optic micro cables for OSP (Outside Plant) applications in the
European broadband market. These micro cables are designed for
installations into microducts—technology commonly used in congested
areas, such as metro applications due to space considerations. Micro
cables provide European broadband operators a cost effective way to
upgrade a network on demand by deploying fiber as needed. The new micro
cable product portfolio includes both a stranded loose tube and central
tube design. The stranded loose tube design is available in counts up to
144 with outer diameters varying from 5.6 to 8.2 mm. Stranded loose tube
cable provides easy, mid-span access. The central tube design is
available in counts up to 24 with outer diameters ranging from 3.5 to
4.2 mm. This compact, lightweight cable design is installer-preferred in
access applications because of its easier handling.
BrightPath®
Optical Solutions (BOS™) will also be showcased, demonstrating
complete, scalable “end-to-end” FTTx solutions for the broadband
industry. BOS is set across multiple fiber architectures for a
revolutionary approach that works for customers’ unique needs.
Comprising a full suite of head-end, outside plant and end-user
solutions, BOS enables a multi-system operator to choose a product that
meets the needs of today while providing a migration path to the
technology of tomorrow. BOS enables operators to meet the unique
requirements of residential, multi-dwelling unit, commercial and
cellular backhaul applications by employing some of the industry’s
leading technologies such as DPoE™, DOCSIS® [Data Over Cable Service
Interface Specification], Provisioning of EPON [Ethernet Passive Optical
Network]), Radio Frequency over Glass (RFoG) and hybrid fiber coax (HFC)
node segmentation. BOS offers operators the ability to choose the right
technology and architecture—all from a single, trusted partner.
CommScope’s end-to-end systems approach brings the future to customers
now with a comprehensive portfolio of technology solutions. CommScope
will also highlight its latest DPoE products including the Edge 10 OLT
[Optical Line Terminal] and C5000 ONU [Optical Network Unit], as well as
High Power RFoG MicroNodes.
“By delivering a complete set of RFoG, HFC, and DPoE/EPON solutions, our
BOS customers can cost effectively continue to deliver competitive high
bandwidth services and fully leverage all of their existing
infrastructure,” said Ric Johnsen, senior vice president, Broadband,
CommScope. “With our micro cable offering, CommScope can ensure our
broadband clients are meeting the needs of their customers as they
demand faster and improved service.”
CommScope’s SYSTIMAX®
iPatch® Intelligent Infrastructure Solution will be featured at the
FNT-GmbH Booth (Level 10.1/Booth M38) with a live demonstration of the
integration between iPatch and FNT’s Command software suite. The
SYSTIMAX iPatch solution provides IT managers with vision, knowledge and
control over their infrastructure, including electronic work orders and
automated documentation of changes to the physical layer infrastructure.
FNT’s Command software suite supports cable management, centralized
management of telecommunications networks, Data Center Management and
Configuration Management. The integration of iPatch and Command enhances
the capabilities of the software by allowing its users to create work
orders that are forwarded to iPatch and delivered as electronic work
orders, with automatic updates of their completion. Command software
users can also monitor connectivity in real-time, receiving
instantaneous updates of unscheduled changes from iPatch.
“Faced with ever growing numbers and types of networked devices, IT
managers are increasingly turning to the iPatch solution for real-time
monitoring and auto-documentation of the physical layer, and are also
deploying comprehensive management software like Command,” said Morgan
Kurk, senior vice president, Enterprise Intelligent Buildings,
CommScope. “Command users can now have the best of both worlds,
accessing the iPatch real-time capabilities from within their preferred
software suite.”
