SYSTIMAX Solutions™, the worldwide leader in structured connectivity solutions, today announced that the Danish railway company DSB is the first company worldwide to manage its 10 Gb/s copper cabling infrastructure using the SYSTIMAX® iPatch® Real Time Infrastructure System. To achieve 10 Gb/s performance with lower network management costs, DSB has combined advanced iPatch technology with the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED® X10D Solution at its national control center located in Copenhagen.
The iPatch Real Time Infrastructure Management System, helps managers at the control center maintain real time control over the network’s physical layer. It also assists in providing the high levels of security, improved manageability and fast disaster recovery they need to minimize the risk of disruption to rail services.

From network distribution frames to the manager’s desk, it is tailored to deliver the information needed for faster fault correction along with efficient network management.
At the same time, the iPatch System reduces the costs of running a network. Electronic orders and on-screen instructions to technicians make moves, adds and changes faster with less risk of errors. These new technical resources allow DSB to manage a much more sophisticated, high performance network than was previously possible.

The new network infrastructure at DSB’s control center includes more than 1,000 outlets that will support video, audio, CCTV, access control and VoIP as well as data and voice connections. From the iPatch intelligent panels in the distribution frames, 10 Gb/s GigaSPEED X10D copper cables run alongside SYSTIMAX LazrSPEED® multimode fiber connections to 30 floor boxes. Located throughout the center, these boxes each have 20 RJ45-type outlets and two fiber outlets.
The GigaSPEED X10D UTP solution complies with the latest IEEE 802.3an specifications for 10GBASE-T as well as the proposed TIA and ISO/IEC specifications for Category 6A/Class E(A) cabling. It will support 10Gb/s transmission from end-to-end in a 100-meter, four-connector channel, even under adverse conditions.
