SYSTIMAX® Solutions, the worldwide leader in structured connectivity
solutions and services for organizations, has announced that independent
and extensive witness tests have confirmed the Alien Crosstalk
performance of its SYSTIMAX® GigaSPEED® X10D Solution, which is designed
to support speeds up to 10 Gb/s.
The tests were witnessed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), an
independent, not-for-profit product safety certification organization.
In this case, Alien Crosstalk data was taken at the SYSTIMAX Labs
facility while UL personnel monitored the entire process. According to
UL guidelines, only equipment that has been certified as being properly
calibrated can be used to collect data. The test procedures and the test
results are then compared against appropriate standards to determine
UL confirmed that the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D Solution complied with the
Alien Crosstalk requirements as stated in the SYSTIMAX Performance
documentation. UL witnessed testing of the GigaSPEED X10D Solution to

Standards Documents, respectively.
Richard Mei, Head of Systems Engineering, SYSTIMAX Labs commented: ”We
believe this independent witness testing of our solution is the first of
its kind for a 10 Gb/s UTP solution. The Alien Crosstalk performance,
which is crucial to successful 10 Gb/s transmission, was tested for the
complete channel across the entire swept frequency. It was tested in a
stringent 6–around-1 configuration that is representative of worst-case
installation conditions. In addition, the connecting hardware and cable
samples used for this investigation were randomly selected from our
At the end of 2004, SYSTIMAX Solutions™ launched its complete,
end-to-end UTP cabling technology capable of supporting 10 Gb/s. It
believes that the GigaSPEED X10D Solution is the only 10 Gb/s UTP
solution to achieve this level of performance and is delighted that UL
has witnessed this. SYSTIMAX Labs has developed unique proprietary
design tools to quantify and predict phenomena in the cabling channel
that may not be detected with traditional testing technology. It is this
capability that gives SYSTIMAX Solutions confidence in claiming
compliance to the proposed new standards. The UL testing confirms this
The test configuration consisted of a set of “6-around–1” cable assembly
for each cable type in the product range. Based on swept frequency
measurements, the minimum margins of PSANEXT and PSAELFEXT between 1 MHz
to 500 MHz were compared to the draft standards.
Innovative features of the GigaSPEED X10D Solution include a new cable
design based on a traditional round shape that has been developed using
patent pending technology. Coupled with this is new, patent pending,
connector technology that follows similar termination as the previous
generations. The GigaSPEED X10D Solution is available in the market
today as a complete solution, provided with published guaranteed channel
performance up to a full 100 meter, four- connector channel and is
backed by a 20-year Extended Warranty and Applications Assurance.
