World Leader in Structured Connectivity Solutions Opens Office in Saudi Arabia

SYSTIMAX® Solutions increases investment in Saudi market after gaining market leadership position; office opening coincides with launch of Kingdom’s first 10 Gigabit copper cabling solution
April 4, 2005 RIYADH, Saudi Arabia

SYSTIMAX Solutions™, the worldwide leader in structured connectivity solutions and services for businesses, has announced today the official opening of their offices in Riyadh’s Al Fursan Plaza building on King Fahad Road following an increased investment in its operations in the Kingdom. The announcement coincides with the company’s launch of the 10 Gigabit copper cabling solution in Saudi Arabia, the first full UTP solution that brings a whole new world of speed, throughput and opportunity to the Kingdom’s thriving enterprise, telco and education sectors.

SYSTIMAX Solutions, which was previously operating in the Kingdom under Avaya, was acquired in January last year by CommScope, the world’s largest manufacturer of broadband coaxial cable for hybrid fiber/coaxial applications and a leading supplier of high-performance fiber-optic and twisted pair cables. With its new office premises based in Riyadh, the company is extending its reach to all geographical areas of the Kingdom through its channel base of six SYSTIMAX BusinessPartners.

“Saudi Arabia is the fastest growing market for SYSTIMAX Solutions in a region in which we believe we are currently the market leader. We feel it is important for us to increase our presence in the Kingdom, and establishing the office in Saudi Arabia demonstrates our commitment to the market and strengthens our market leadership position,” said Dominic Morris, Saudi Arabia Country Manager, SYSTIMAX Solutions. “We are working closely with Saudi Arabian organizations, helping them build highly advanced network infrastructures as convergence gains momentum within the Kingdom. With the current all-encompassing drive towards connectivity in the Kingdom, we believe that this is a critical time in the market. We are seeing an enormous demand for reliable network cabling solutions as organizations from various sectors deploy new technologies and recognise a solid and reliable network as a fundamental and strategic asset for their businesses.”

In the last year, SYSTIMAX Solutions has been involved in some major developments in the Kingdom, including SABIC, the HADEED Steel Plant in Jubail, King Abdul Aziz University, the Hilton Hotel in Jeddah, the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) and STC, where SYSTIMAX Solutions was awarded the frame contract for providing structured cabling solutions for the telco’s voice and data systems. SYSTIMAX Solutions has also worked with other important organizations including the Royal Commission in Jubail, the Ministry of Defense and Aviation, and Jubail United Petroleum Company (JUPC).

“Saudi Arabian organizations are very aware of the latest technologies and the need to pursue them, but we believe they need to examine their core infrastructures very carefully to ensure that these technologies can be supported in the future. Currently, we are seeing a lot of investment being poured in from the government into the education and healthcare sectors and this is a key focus for us in the next year,” added Morris.

Dubai-based Madar Research recently reported that Saudi Arabia, which allocates a major chunk of the national budget to education and vocational training, has put in place diverse initiatives that will see the Kingdom emerging as one of the biggest e-learning markets in the region. This is expected to push its value from the current US$30 million to US$125 million by 2008.

“We anticipate that this growth will be boosted by government-led initiatives and education projects, some of which are already in various stages of implementation,” said Ehab Kanary, Business Development Manager, SYSTIMAX Solutions. “Some of these projects are looking at reducing their communication costs by running and implementing IP telephony solutions that require core infrastructures capable of supporting network convergence. This, in turn, is leading them to invest in the latest copper and fiber cabling solutions. We believe this is an enormous opportunity for SYSTIMAX Solutions in the Kingdom to provide these facilities with the advanced networking infrastructures that can support the bandwidth-intensive applications they will be using today and in the future.”
